I'm returning to RO after a bit of a break and I've seen a lot of this "Shadow" gear around, as well as other costume pieces that grant bonuses

 

What are some of the best costume pieces/sets to get?

 

Can they be obtained anywhere other than the cash shop?

The "black" shadow gear was an event that ended just the last maintenance, At this moment is impossible to get it.

The White shadow gear comes from boxes, and you can buy them from other players in vending.

The rest of the costumes, can be obtained via KPs, Kitcoins (KP items) or other players, and can be enchanted with some stones (giving costumes for a random stone, or buying them from another player) with a mid chance. You can buy them already enchanted too from other players

 

Wich costume is the best? depends on your class

costume garments are probably the most expensive due to their ability to get a +1 aspd enchant on them.

The system (Especially for a returning player) is pretty confusing, and getting the gears (not buying them) can be a pain in the butt...

at the same time, the costumes aren't required either. it sucks that you missed out on the welfare shadow set since that gives you a nice +4 total bonus to all stats.

I'd say if you were going to dabble in cash shop items, a +9 rwh or vanargand helm would be a far better investment than rolling the dice with costumes and their enchants (especially since enchants aren't 100% guarantees).

Noooo~ How could I have missed the Shadow set T_T

 

I'm looking into gearing up my Ranger again. What would be some good costume items to get as a Ranger? (Focus on leveling as AS build then to an aspd MVP build at later levels)

Costume rudra/Archangel wing with +1 aspd enchant

Quite expensive though

 

Get the costume: goggles for extra exp

Let me remember

For upper, costume googles (cheap, 30% extra exp)

mid, anything with ATK+1%

lower, anything with SP stone (+1 sp per mob killed isn't that bad)

garment, Costume archangel wings or rudra grace with aspd+1 (that's the best you can find atm)

physical shadow earring + physical shadow pendant + physical shadow weapon

hard shadow armor + champion shadow shoes = extra hp & sp

 

second option

weapon, kingbird shadow weapon

armor, ancient shadow armor (pair with kingbird shadow weapon)(total: extra ranged damage)

 

That kind of shadow gear needs the complete set to be pretty useful (also, all must be +7 or +8), that's why free shadow gear is a pretty good option for most of classes

but i got a question regarding costume.

• there are some of the costume that have state the all the effect of the costume will be gone after the event end. (eg: baphomet hat) so i guess after the event finish, the costume is gonna be totally useless?
• can all the costume be enchant?

the effects should leave when they say they are but sometimes things persist. the bapho effect should be leaving this maint though.

not all costumes can be enchanted although the GMs are working on making adding more. it's pretty low priority at the moment due to the large updates we have coming down the pipes.
