Hey there,

 

after a break of about 6 years I've finally decided to give RO another try. I'm playing on fRO, so there is Renewal but cap is level 150 if I'm not mistaken. I hope I don't talk -_- here, since I don't even know Renewal yet - by the time I stopped there was no Renewal on Euro servers.

 

 

It was possible to transfer my old account to the new one, so I have a decent amount of money to buy me stuff I need (except those very high-end stuff of course). I started to make a SVD swordy/knight and reached level 86 just a couple seconds ago.

As it seems I have done some mistakes, so I want to make sure I can em rule out before going into High Swordy / LK.

 

By now I'm leveling with these stuff:

 

Low-level Ridewort Hat

Robo Eye

Fish in Mouth

Soul Collector Chain Mail

Immune Manteau

Shackles

Safety Ring

Bloodied Shackle Ball

VVS Lances - Fire, Wind, Earth and Ice  -  these were the common stuff back in the days, don't have any idea about current weapons and which to use to be honest

 

 

stats are by now:

 

78 STR

1 AGI

70 VIT

1 INT

57 DEX

1 LUK

 

 

 

I'm using Brandish Spear and it seems I made a mistake, since it's very tough to mob with it (maybe my gear and/or stats as well) for the past 5-10 levels. Right now I'm trying to mob Roweens with an Earth Lance and I can barely mob more than 4 or 5 Roweens at a time. During the BS spam I have also to spam my Fresh Fish, since my DEX is a bit too low. Most of the time it takes me 10-15 seconds to clear them and by then I lost 30-60 Fresh Fish.

 

 

 

I will probably continue to do this until I hit 99, since this shouldn't take that long - at least I hope so.

But what should I do if I rebirth then? I don't want to do the same mistake(s) again.

 

 

As it seems, I should have gone for Bowling Bash instead - what weapons am I supposed to use then? I guess with some 1-handed weapon and a shield equipped I shouldn't face such a hard time, or is it supposed to be that close and tough whenever I mob more than 3 or 4 targets?

Renewal level cap:

The level cap is 175/60. iRO implemented the 175/60 update December 10.

 

Rebirth:

It is highly recommended that you transcend. The extra 20 skill points are very helpful, and you get access to Spear Dynamo, among other skills. Spear Dynamo is a better version of Endure, as it also increases your attack and accuracy at the expense of defense. Sounds like the increased accuracy would be helpful to you.

 

Skill reset:

As long as you are base level 99 or lower, you can reset your skills at any time for free. Speak to the Hypnotist NPC in the center of Prontera (146, 232) or Izlude (127, 175).

Bowling Bash does more damage than Brandish Spear, as long as you're outside the gutter lines.

 

Equipment:

Looking at the Rune Knight entry at irowiki should give you an idea on equipment.

You're probably having trouble because you don't have a shield with a racial reduction card. 

 

Stats:

The stats are fine, but you're expected to need healing as a VIT-oriented character. Healing can be done through healing items/spells, natural HP regen (e.g., Arc Angeling card), HP drain (Rideword Hat, Vanargand Helm, or Hunter Fly-carded weapon).
