So here’s a list of everything I can think of that goes undocumented around here or is generally forgotten about, if you have anything to add please feel free to post or PM me and I can include it. I’m including sources about when things were introduced and links to any relevant foundry or patch note threads.

Lets start with the server rates:

  • Experience - 1.5x base rates we also are currently running a 2x experience buff permanently right now on top of the base rate increase. So this puts it at 3x base rates, Campitor summarises it here.
  • Drops - 1.5x base rates with double card rate (this includes MVP/mini boss cards)

It’s also possible to increase your drops rate higher by purchasing from the cash shop.

VIP is a 1.5x experience/drop buff and with a reduction in the experience lost on death. While VIP you can also use the buffer NPC (116, 87 Prontera or inside Asgard) which will give you a 3 stat food buff and insurance (no exp loss for your next death). This also allows you to make more than 3 characters on your account, when your VIP ends you can continue to use any characters made in those additional 6 slots. You can purchase anywhere from 7 days to 6 months at a time. Occasionally we will get VIP only experience or drops buffs.

One neat trick if you're VIP is that inside Eden (run north through Asgard to get there) there's a Magic Stone Checker NPC, if you speak to him and get checked you can then speak to the VIP Services guy a little further north, he will give you a one time 30 minute 3x experience boost and a warp to a handful of dungeons (I usually save it for transing characters and use a Fencer in Sphinx). You can use the boost whenever you want and it always pays to get all of your characters checked when your account is on VIP. I'll post the reason why this guy exists down below if anyone's actually interested.

Battle manuals are purchasable from the cash shop or players and come in a handful of different types, there’s a standard manual (1.5x exp gain 30 minute duration), a thick battle manual (1.5x exp gain 60 minute duration), a HE manual (2x exp 15 minute duration) and a 3x manual (3x exp gain 30 minute duration, created by talking to the NPC 156, 125 Prontera in exchange for 3 HE manuals). There’s also a job manual for a boost in job exp gain that stacks with the other manuals.

Gum similar to battle manuals increases your drop rates and is purchasable from the cash shop or players. The different types are standard bubble gum (1.5x drops 30 minutes) and HE gum (3x drops 15 minute duration). There is also a lower headgear item that has a low chance to proc a short term standard gum effect, this does not stack with other gum and will overwrite any existing effect.

Asgard is a place accessible from around the game by talking to any of the Asgard Teleporter Valkyries around the towns. It’s a custom place created for this server where players can have a centralised place to go. The foundry thread about it is here. It contains some of the following:

Jumping Janeway is another iRO creation that allows people to quickly level up pre-trans. You speak to her and she will give you a quest to kill x of a monster then return to her for a significant amount of levels. You first run into her inside the Novice training grounds and following that she can be found inside Asgard. The thread for that can be found here.

PvM

We’ve got a handful of custom turnins for this server, I’ve compiled a poorly laid out list here. We also have the standard turn in quests you’d expect on an iRO server you can find those http://irowiki.org/c...able_EXP_Quests .

To go along with the turnin quests we have also had some significant map changes to create some interesting and new places for players to go and level. Some examples can be found in the post I made about the turn in quests. If you’re looking for a database here’s the most accurate one we have: http://db.irowiki.org/classic/. Some drop percentages wont be accurate, but the spawn data should be.

We’ve also had two challenge dungeons created by the GMs. They’re accessible behind Prontera Church at 273,341. They’re basically a custom designed place for people to go and kill monsters not found anywhere else. The last one borrowed assets from the Old Glast Heim instance from Renewal. There’s also plans from the GMs to use the currently disabled Orc Memorial Dungeon instance to use Renewal Instances, the Foundry thread for that is here.

Spotlights are rotating areas where the GMs boost a region/dungeons spawn rates, experience and drops. There are generally a specific set of monsters and it changes the drops/exp of all the selected monsters globally. They tend to last about a month and the GMs have a handful (5/6?) of these they rotate through.

Due to a handful of limitations the GMs are under we have some custom implementations of some PvM content. These two right now are Nidhogg and Dimensional Gorge. Nidhogg entrance is an NPC at 119, 99 outside the tower in Geffen (added here). Dimensional Gorge entrance requires you to first complete this quest: http://irowiki.org/classic/Dandelion's_Request the entrance NPCs are in Morroc at 147, 113. You can still get the continental guard accessories, I believe all you need to do is kill the quest Morroc and then turn in the Skins to the guy who lets you onto the map The Foundry threads talking about the Dimensional Gorge implementation are here and here.

The Renewal instance Hazy Forest (http://irowiki.org/wiki/Hazy_Forest) has been added. You can gain access to it from the two NPCs in Prontera at 93, 114. It contains some of the cards which have been slightly redesigned for Classic (added here). Initially added here I think? Hard to tell it was being tested for a couple of weeks before it got opened up.

WoE/PvP

God item creation for 1.0 items is a bit different here. There’s a big long thread detailing the new process is here. The tl;dr is basically this, completing a seal quest awards you one seal stone, when 100 of each seal has been completed you can turn in 50 of each seal stone type to start the quest to kill 100 of each of four types of monster on a PvP enabled map. When you have finished your kill counts you kill an MVP on the map and it spawns a dwarf in the middle of the map, speak to the dwarf run up the hallway make your item. It's a little more involved with other factors in play, but I'm not going to explain it here.

1.0 Gods work slightly differently too. They were changed to help prevent RMT as players quit. When an item is created via the quest system above you are awarded with a box that contains an account bound version of the item, this is identical to the god items of other servers just account bound. However there's an NPC inside the Prontera Castle that will take your account bound god item and then give you an Ephemeral god item of that same type. These Ephemeral items are tradable but have a duration of 30 days (the expiration date is shown in the tooltip like any rental item), when it expires you return to the NPC for a new one. The ownership of items that have been exchanged via the NPC cannot be changed.

Seals here are fairly standard, however you do not need to wait for the next seal to appear to continue on. You can create a level 70 character and then do all four seals in order regardless of the seal statuses. On completion of a seal you also gain a seal stone from that quest, these are tradable and required to make god items.

To help with the difficult and time consuming task of supplying a guild the GMs added Guild Surplus Boxes, these drop from monsters in the guild dungeons (as well as some other specific places, Bio3 monsters and challenge dungeon monsters) and contain most of what you would normally need to supply a guild. Starsands, bomb materials, blue herbs, speed potions etc. They also increased the spawns in the guild dungeons to help make acquiring these easier, some dungeons are still better than others (Valkyrie and Luina are the current go-to places for farming boxes). They were introduced here.

We also have somewhat custom battlegrounds/rewards. The main difference is in how Tierra forms the teams. Instead of having people on each side everyone speaks to the same NPC and gets put into one room with a chat box and the teams are decided based on the order you entered the room after speaking to the NPC, first 8 on one team second 8 on the other. BGs were added here.

There's now also a server wide shouter for Battlegrounds and PvP located in Prontera at 100, 100. Added here and Foundry thread here. Player names were added to the shouter to prevent spam on 26/08.

There’s only one type of battleground badge which can be used to purchase all the different armour/weapons and the number of badges you get for a win or loss is increased. There have also been some price adjustments to certain items here and the introduction of a Blue Potion which is usable in BG/WoE.

Flavour of life

There have been a lot of neat changes to help make our lives easier here’s a list:

Warpers to the current spotlight and dungeon turnin quests have been added to Asgard (spotlight 96, 121, turnin 107, 117). The spotlight NPC will probably only get updated if you remind the GMs to keep it up to date when they change spotlights and the current destinations for the turnin NPC are Abyss Lake 3 entrance and Ice Dungeon 3 (near the middle at the new Snowman NPC). Added here.

Purchasing Forging ingredients has been streamlined a little bit. From the Blacksmith Guild you can purchase Coal at 500z, Mini Furnaces at 25z with a reduced weight as well as the ability to purchase more than one hammer at once. Added here.

Hocus Pocus got a buff in a slight Monster Chant increase chance and had a handful of MVPs were added to the list. I believe this change is still in, added here.

When transcending you are able to carry up to 99 weight with you and there is no zeny limit. It also costs an additional 1.25m (total 2.5m) to transcend if you are not VIP that was added here. Cant find a link for when the weight change was made, probably in the huge thread when trans was launched. The change was made because there was a handful of things that were account bound and could not be put in storage at the time.

NPCs that would normally take an Empty Bottle eg. Juice Quest or Potion Maker in Alberta take Empty Potion Bottles instead. Changed here.

There is a bottle merchant located in Prontera 170, 111. This merchant will buy/sell Empty Bottles, generally you can sell bottles to it for 400z and buy them (if they're in stock) for 700z. Added here.

You can reset your stats in Payon at 180, 115, you bring a number of Magic Stones (between 1-4 purchasable from the cash shop at 100 points each) proportional to your level. This has a 3 month cooldown. Added here.

You can reset your skills by purchasing a Neuralizer from the Kafra shop for 1000 points.

Prontera warp passes are given to you by any Kafra you speak to when you no longer have one. This warps you to the save spot by the benches in Prontera, giving you a free trip straight to Prontera regardless of where you are. Added here.

You can split a +10 food item up into 5 smaller “snacks” which last for 5 minutes each. This was done in response to the GMs being unable to make food last through death. The NPC for this is in Prontera 123, 98. Snacks were added here.

Yellow/Red gems are now purchasable from NPCs. Added here.

There has been some NPCs created to allow players to pot easier. You can pay an NPC for a token and speaking to another NPC with that token will give you the NPC materials to make Slim Whites (bowls, fat whites etc). There’s also an HP/SP refill NPC located there too. Added here.

The Speed Potion NPC acts differently. No need to run through with multiple characters buying small amounts at a time, when you make him appear you can just DC them from him as you would anything from another tool dealer. Added here.

The RO community Development team have created a kill count tracker. They appear as server announcements. Added here.

They also have created a way for party health bars to appear instantly when someone walks on screen. If the health isnt known yet a cached version is shown. Added here.

Due to the addition of slotted mids into monthly cash shop boxes the community wanted a way to get them much cheaper as they were very expensive when first implemented. The GMs then added this quest (walkthrough is here). You need to be VIP to start it and the mids awarded are account bound. However due to regular additions the price of slotted mids has dropped significantly since then and it's probably better to just purchase some. The coupons the quest awards are a rare drop from the MVP in the challenge dungeon and available from Old Periwinkle Boxes (see below).

There have also been some drops changes, mostly for very rare things that should be more available. They’re VERY spread out and not documented anywhere or updated on any specific databases, I’ll probably be filling this out dead last as it’s a lot of extra digging around.

Misc/confusing things

We have quite a few custom or Renewal items that were not initially designed for Pre-Renewal. As well as some items that got small redesigns for no apparent reason. Some examples of items that we have are: Evil Marching Hat, Little Feather Hat, Demon Mask. There's quite a few more but it's a growing list, some are purely cosmetic and some are very strong tools to make more interesting builds viable (if someone wants to make/maintain a list I can include it). Slotted mids are also fairly common from the monthly cash shop boxes. As for items that got a redesign, the one that immediately comes to mind is the Rideword Hat you need to upgrade it to +8 in order to benefit from the SP drain effect. There isnt that many items that got changed this way and I cant remember any others off the top of my head. I'll add any more as I think of them.

The GMs have added a test server allowing them to test upcoming content without having to implement it on the live server. You can get to it at server select by selecting "ClTest". It will quickly level you a character to 85-90 and you can speak to the Kafra for zeny to purchase some items from the NPCs around Izlude. In the future this has potential to test all sorts of content (challenge dungeon, new quests/events, battlegrounds, pvp etc) but right now it's a bit empty. There will be a thread going up in the foundry for it soon and I'll link to it here. The test server is currently down, not sure when it's coming back.

Dead Branches and Polymorph have been disabled in Prontera as well as some other maps (I have no idea which ones they are). This also affects Bloody Branches. Cant find any posts about when it was disabled, RIP.

Icewall has been disabled on a handful of maps at various times on this server, it was initially disabled on all MVP maps to prevent griefing and encourage proper competition for some high end MVPs. Right now from what I understand that it's only disabled on the Dimensional Gorge map but it's also possible that there's some that escaped notice. Here is where it was re-enabled on all the maps.

Poring Wars and the Izlude Arena are also both disabled here. Poring Wars was removed due to people abusing it, Oda post here. As far as I know the Izlude Arena has been disabled for the entire duration of the server, cant find anything specific about it from server launch.

The Hidden Enchant Orbs that would normally indicate one of the hidden enchants (eg +3 Str) are not currently available. This is due to the server using an older client, our GMs have requested the Pre-Renewal client from kRO but they have not been able (or willing) to provide us with one at this point in time. The GMs have made an attempt to make the stat enchants show in the items name when there is something carded in them, this does not always work. There have been numerous posts about it but here's one from Oda about it.

The Mail Annex was added after the GMs had been asked by kRO to remove the mail system from the game entirely due to a handful of exploits. Some guilds at the time said that they really wanted the mail to be available to send out supplies to their guild. So the annex was created, this is a room found inside Eden that has a Kafra NPC who will handle both storage and open up your mail for you. There's also a tool dealer NPC that sells most common useful supplies and the potting NPCs mentioned above. Added here.

Blacksmith and Hunter job changes are back where they were originally. Blacksmith job change can be started in south-east Geffen 180, 59. Hunter job change is located by speaking to the sign at 148, 252 on pay_fild10 (East, South and East again from Payon). The reason for this is because we didnt have very many of the expansion towns at the beginning of the server so these job changes were relocated early on and then forgotten about as the rest of the towns/content was added.

Originally on the server Old Card Albums did not contain mini boss cards, at some point the players encouraged the GMs to include them. Some people felt that it was unfair that some guilds had stockpiles of OCAs and the GMs decided that they would create a new Ancient Card Album that included the mini bosses. You can exchange OCAs for ACAs at a ratio of 3:1 in Prontera at 125, 95. ACAs have been added to monster drop tables and any quests that once awarded OCAs, castle treasure still drops OCAs. Added here.

Old Periwinkle Boxes were added to replace Old Purple Boxes as an MVP reward, these are just Old Purple Boxes that have a chance to award a Geek Glasses Slotting Coupon (see above). Added here.

At the servers launch the GMs were interested in trying out account bound gear (unbound items) to stop hand me down gear and help stabilise the economy long team. They placed these items inside tradable boxes, when you opened the box you were given an account bound version of the item. We eventually got them to unbind all those items, however they still drop in these boxes. They are not account bound despite what the descriptions say, here’s an almost complete list: http://ragial.com/se...Classic/unbound the only things that are not included in that are Diabolus Mant and Ring. This has been removed and monsters should now be dropping their items like normal, however any items that were previously in boxes will remain like that until opened. Changed here.

In addition recently the GMs have chosen to unbind some common Kafra Shop items eg. Robo Eyes, Chick Hat, Mini Propeller. These are now tradable. Changed here full list included.

The GMs also have to deal with a fairly large amount of limitations on their end. Due to how things work they cannot change everything the same way a private server can. We’ve hit the limit on a few things and I’m going to talk about some of them here.

We’re currently running an older client, the GMs have been unable to source the client we were using directly before Renewal hit. As such we don’t have the stat orbs for hidden enchants and a couple of other things.

There’s also a problem with monsterIDs, we have a very limited number available to us and cannot get any new ones as our old client will only recognise a specific number. This is currently why we do not have New World as a lot of those monsterIDs have been handed out for other various events or content that has been created. There are free monsterIDs it’s just a case of being very very careful about what we use as if you remove a monster being used for a fairly uncommon or rare quest it leads to possible exploits or general bad things. Someone has also done some pretty extensive research and found out that there's a lot more free monsterIDs available to us than first thought, meaning we should be able to get things done with those, that list is here.

Summary:

There's a lot of things we've got that are different, hopefully some people will learn some things from this. I'm sure there's still a lot that's missing, I think the number of things has doubled while typing all this out. If you have something to add please post it here.

If you'd like to help keep these sorts of things public knowledge, head over to irowiki and request an account. You dont have to be some kind of mechanics god to write out a quick guide to a new event or quest chain or talk about some of the customised maps we've got here that people should go check out. There's a thread in the general forum discussing it here.

Changes:

16/8 - This is no longer being updated.

27/7 - Hazy Forest and some words about custom/modified items.

5/6 - Exp rate confirmation, yes, nothing worth posting has happened on Classic in five months.

14/01 - Turnin/spotlight warpers

22/10 - Test server details.

5/10 - No more items in boxes.

22/07 - Instant party health bars.

15/07 - Battleground/PvP shouter.

26/06 - Buying Forging tools.

4/06 - Hocus, Dead Branch/Poly, Icewall and Poring Wars/Izlude Arena.

27/05 - Hidden enchants/stat orb gets its own paragraph, throwaway sentence isnt really enough!

21/05 - Transcending changes, weight/zeny.

18/05 - Added bottle merchant and Empty Bottle -> Empty Potion Bottle switcheroo .

17/05 - Added unbound Kafra shop items.

?? - Added Mail Annex, Hunter/Smith job changes (thanks Ecclesio).

This is a very good post that won't reach nearly as many people as it needs to, but I thank you for taking the time to compile all this information. I actually didn't know a decent amount of it.

this really ought to be stickied. phenomenal post with clearly a lot of effort put into it.

the only other things i might suggest to add are to say where people can start the hunter and blacksmith job changes. for blacksmith irowiki is off and one would think based on the update we're in that the hunter job change would be in hugel...but it's not lol.

also isn't the turn in npc still in izlude for byalan dungeon? its pitiful exp but still worth mentioning i guess

I dont think I've ever done the Byalan dungeon turnins, can you give co-ords for the npc and I'll look into it.

Thanks for the sticky too.

+1 I always wondered about those Unbound items. I saw something I wanted to buy, but since I wasn't familiar with that term, I decided not to. Ah well.

Oh, by the way, If I remember correctly, I think Janeway is still in Izlude as well. Basically useless knowledge, but someone might prefer that to having to go to Asgard for some odd reason...

No its not I updated it months ago

infact I can even tell the exact date:

Maybe the classic wiki should be deleted tho since nobody seems to care to help. If you're going to bitch about crap, make sure you're bitching accurately.

It's already been established that absolutely nobody wants to help you maintain it. The CMs are very passive about it to the point of denying its existence, and the only other people who give much of a crap about Classic have put their lot in with iW.

It's a combination of things, partially concerning the fact that iW is already cemented in the community's mind as the premier wiki accompaniment for the international servers, and that Classic isn't particularly active/filled with anyone who really cares beyond their weekly sieging, but imo it died as soon as people figured out that you're the major contributor. You have more enemies than friends, and you already know that your enemies will go above and beyond their normal routine if they can spite you as a result. Think of how little was done for the Classic side of iW prior to your beginning to advertise ICN as a competitor to it. They rallied pretty hard; hell just look at all the iW "update threads" that have popped up all over WP since then ;p

I personally think you should stick with it. Pretty much all of these things start out solo till a couple of interested people apply to give the webmaster a hand, then word of mouth takes it from there.

A good start would be to update the maint notes. It's been the 11th of Feb for 3 months!

Please keep that garbage out of here. I made a third attempt to get an account (different username/email address) and finally got an auto confirmation, so hopefully it'll get approved and I'll be able to start editing the wiki. I already have content drafted up for Janeway and a couple of other things.

I added the Izlude turnin to my post in the patch notes thread, but couldnt find any details about when it got added (I assume it's like the Rachel one, where each turnin is like 150 * 8% of each monster).

hi I'm a mod and can contact blueness directly, would you like some help?

And I wasn't talking about ICN Almr, I've been editting the irowiki.

I'm also sort of considering how tired I am of helping maintain wiki just to be insulted by people like Eccelsio, or holier-than-thou jerks who won't work together with others to get the wiki up to date. fyi, I pay most of the server donations for irowiki. So really I was thinking about talking to blueness about it, because I'm not happy contributing for such a petty community that can't leave WoE in WoE. I've never been vocal about the work I do on the wiki, nor do I feel the need to toot my own horn about the work I do for the game/community. And yet for some reason people have a problem with people who actually DO the damn work.

Or accuse those that just enjoy playing the game of trying to make others quit. It's really extremely tiresome. Especially those who just go by a name or guild affiliation, cause when someone like doddler expresses how they think the game should be, or draws on experiences from others servers, its OKAY because he was in valk.

tyvm and goodnight.

Please keep that garbage out of here.

Not endorsing the post that AlmrOfAtlas' just made, but I don't think you should be calling my database garbage.

wat

It should be okay though, my previous attempts to make an account were not generating a confirmation email (a problem I've had with irowiki in the past) and I actually sent him a PM in like February (with no response). I'm not sure how the approval process works, but as long as someone looks at it and approves it I'll have no issue getting started.

I'm going to throw in something in the summary about getting more people to register and contribute to  the wiki as it's a pretty monumental task and even half a dozen people doing super simple things like writing up guides for new quests or keeping the current events up to date is pretty useful.

Well, we were looking for people to help on the new site too. I'm sorry if I misinterpreted your response to AlmrOfAtlas.

Either way, just take up the offer a few posts above about getting direct contact with the iW admins.

Although you don't seem willing to talk to those who do currently work on the wiki. It's not my place to comment on such affairs I suppose.

Yeah that's fine, I didnt actually see mention of your site in there because it got abbreviated. It definitely wasnt my intent to attack anything you're working on. Anyone doing any sort of content for the server should be encouraged. I just wanted to make sure this was kept focused on keeping people informed about all the random stuff we've had done over the last three years.

If you want I can link to your site in the post up there, actually a general "useful resources" is probably a good idea if people want to read up on anything.

Hi,

I'm coming back to Classic again and my party is full of new people. This is very helpful and hopefully will give the community quite a boost. I'm passing this thread along to my friends. I sure hope more people are coming to play classic again!

Such an informative post. I hope classic will get updated client from kRO. In term of variability of items, quests, etc, between renewal and classic, I honestly say renewal has gained so much but still, classic will be always our good old memory forever <3
