really having troubles deciding whether i would go full FC aoe using faceworm combo or a utility sura using reduc gears for snap pulling/MS tanking

maybe it's all depends on situation but some tips might help for me as i level

insights from pro suras would be very helpful ^^

as long as the stat setups you have in mind are not too extreme, changing roles is just a matter of switching gears, really nothing too serious to be torn about;

stat-wise at 115, would personally go 90-STR, 90-VIT, 50-INT, 70-DEX; INT (SP pool) can be lowered for more STR/VIT or even be down to 1 if you have PA+RD10 - just watch out for silence - this can be a problem when snap pulling if you dont have green pots hotkeyed (or marduk card); scale up DEX (HIT) as you level up (about 80~100 base should be enough at the end)

there's no point in thinking about going "full" FC combo at this moment as you can't really have either 120 STR or VIT (for the temp boots bonus) without significantly skimping on other stats (DEX being needed for HIT as TC can miss, and INT for SP-pool); you can still make use of the nice HP boost from the faceworm combo for FC damage even w/out the 120 base stat bonus;

once you hit 150+ you can then make full use of the boots for soloing (base 120 STR + STR boots recommended, especially if you have good %damage gears/cards stacked) - can even go 120 for both STR and VIT if that would help you achieve clean 1 or 2 shots on certain mobs;

skills at job 25; next step would be to work towards RD10 - job 47 (48 if getting windmill - can be useful to stun mobs before FCing to reduce damage intake);

there's really no distinct shura skill/build setup for snap/MS tank as you have those skills already as champ (maybe you're referring to GT-revit but this is too extreme/unconventional at this stage, as it will leave you without a major offensive skill to use for soloing, at least until near max job levels); just having WPH+alarm+pumpkins (with appropriate race/ele reducs) should make you essentially invincible when snap pulling; you may think medium-high AGI would help you with snap speed but this should not matter much in PvM/leveling; in the end, it all comes to just switching gears;

Since ka10 ninja'ed me I'll just give you some insight.

I feel there's no Sura build that locks you into Offensive or Defensive roles...you can do several things with just switching gears. I Snap-pull and MS-tank in TI parties but I also do PvM solo. My FC damage allows me to 1 shot most mobs in Mid TI...but ofc I only use it to defend the Healers/Casters/Performers when we are having a moving party, since 99.99% of the time you'll be Snap-pulling.

Damage reduction gears are a must whereas you're leveling on your own or in TI....so you just have to supplement them with gears that help you enhance FC damage (VIT and %HP gears are the easiest to come by) when the situation arises.

thank you for the tip really help me clear out my mind guess I can't really focus on my FC damage since I'm still 115/26 and yes switching gears will help should've thought of that earlier

lol.

but yeah, suras (for the most part) have a one size fits all stat build which lets you solo stuff and tank. since their skills are based on hp as well as atk you don't need to stack nearly as much damage as some other classes do to still one shot stuff (and you get the added bonus of more hp... it's pretty awesome but a little unfair lol)
