Someone in our guild is dating a mushroom. Coincidence?
Probably not. Mushrooms are pretty conniving!

You make it sound like the US was fighting gay rights from the day it was perceived. [...]
December 1924: The first gay rights group is started in the US. Henry Gerber, who immigrated from Germany in 1913, founded the Society for Human Rights in Chicago after being temporarily committed to a mental institution because of his sexuality. Facing criticism by the families of its few members, as well as concerns about employment and arrest, the group disbanded in 1925.

Still there are better things to make a big deal about. It's like it's become all about people getting attention now rather than people actually caring about the fact they can Marry their partners. We didn't just win a world war. This isn't like abolishing slavery. 2 dudes and 2 girls can get married now.
And before you guys start flaming me for being anti-rights. My sister is Bi, and I see nothing wrong with her choices. I just don't understand the reason to make such a big deal out of it.
THIS is the reason to make a big deal out of it. Because ALL of these were not allowed.
Not everyone chooses to focus on the negatives of life... Equality is a reason to celebrate what we now have and talk about moving forward in the future.
Focus on the good, not the bad. You'll be much happier that way.
(Also, you all totally knew that I would find my way to this thread!)
Ralis! I haven't seen you in ages!

Uhh, Same Sex marriages has always been legal. The difference was they were not recognized by the state for benefits and applicable benefits from a marriage contract. For spouses of non-federal employees, there are like 4 benefits they can now partake in related to taxes. Everything else can be done pretty easily through contracts, wills, and so on. Its just easier to do it with 1 document the marriage contract. Its not like there were roving police breaking down secret Gay Marriage wedding ceremonies and arresting the grooms.
Also men don't get any help from domestic violence. They will tell you to call a number that helps you not beat your wife.
