-removed- He is a scammer, he messaged me saying that he knows me from my main, saying he is my guild leader. I kinda believed him because he knew my other characters level. He claimed that he knows how to +9 my FAW with Raydric card attached with higher chance.... I traded it to him then he asked for my other equipment and then I told him no and i had to go so he logged off... I am seriously pissed, I have been playing this game since iRO and will never be playing this game again.. Some of the people in the community are pieces of and bots galore.. I used to love this game

XD He approached me too. He said he was my Guild Master. He clearly didn't do his homework because I was the guild master (created the guild for the lulz and is only member).

Assuming this isn't a troll thread.  Why did you not ask him to log on the character's he was pretending to be?   Why did you give him your gear without confirming his identity?

Don't trust anyone (including classmates, college friends and colleagues). If you know him personally, you should ask the passcode or whatever method you can recognize him.

if you're talking to someone with a whole bunch of level 6 novices on their account, like this: -removed-, most likely they are not who they say they are. and if you've been playing since the beginning of iRO, you should know about ropd.

i got PMed by this guy a couple days ago also and he claimed to be my best friend. i told him my best friend only has 9 chars and i know them all and he didn't talk to me after that. surprised he's still using that same account to scam people.

I started a whole thread on this weeks ago...this is why people should read the forums. This guy has been at large for awhile now and people keep giving him stuff. Shocked anyone is still falling for this after as long as it has been going on and people have been warned about it.

No scams when no one is a victim. Be wise next time don't give gears for free, ask for assurance like zeny before your gears.

Please submit a Support Ticket with the suspected character name conducting the scamming attempts. Chat logs and screenshots of the incident should be attached to the ticket when available.

 

It is likely the scammer will try a new character name every now and then, however the method used will be anything similar to this. So please be wary of anyone that approaches you in-game in that manner.

That's why I hide my characters. Only my one main character is shown.

Newbies may not know about ROPD.

 

Though it shouldn't be surprising to people that your character level is not private... it's like, public in every MMORPG ever.
