Hi guise, it's my first time playing this game, and I somehow managed to reduce an armor part I was using instead of the armor part that just dropped from a mob, why did this happen?

I know if you accidently double click on an item it can replace an item you are currently using, I however don't remember ever double clicking the item I was trying to reduce. Yet somehow I ended up wearing the junk I was trying to reduce and reduced the forged armor I wanted to keep.

------

This should never happen yet somehow this scenario keeps happening. Okay I'm not new, I lied, but I still managed to reduce the wrong item just like a new player would and now I'm waiting on my ticket.

I suppose the question I'm driving at is why aren't there any safeguards in place for forged items before you accidently reduce them?

When you attempt to right-click delete a forged item it gives you that alert message:

WY6OLbr.jpg

Which seems to be an excellent way to help prevent you from sobbing in the fetal position. Why doesn't the Item Reduction Tool/NPC offer this same Alert? It really should, I can't think of a reason why it shouldn't.

What say you Helium, can we please make this happen while I wait for my item to be restored? Thanks for reading.

TL;DR Item reduction tools/npcs should offer a safeguard alert for when you are about to reduce a forged item, ideally to help prevent screwups.

---

Note for CM's: Please leave this in general chat for a few days before you move it to Proposals & Suggestions or wherever, thanks.

I have important items (stacks of atmas, reinforced gears, mounts etc..) always in the first and second bag and I never touch them, never reduced wrong or discarded wrong item ^^

Same always place most important things in first bag and so on down the line and hardly ever touch them.

Guess this could help, haven't ever had this problem in 7 years tbh.

Well having a pop up window is great idea, and would be nice if they implemented it. Altho yeah lots of us are using the tactic of putting important items in XY bags but still, mistakes can happen to anyone. Either that or ability to lock up items/bags w/e :P

I probably didn't clarify, I'm mainly talking about Armors/Accessories/Weapons drops.

The issue that I somewhat alluded to is when you go to drag an armor/wep/acc drop from your bag to the Item Reduction window and you accidently doubleclick it without realizing you had done so. Then you wind up reducing the forged item instead of the item you intended to reduce because it is now being used by your character as the result of that unnoticed doubleclick which has switched the items.  Lag / carelessness are also partially to blame here.

I've been there and double clicked and not noticed swapping out my current weapon to NPC fodder, luckily this was retrieved by support and put in my bag many years ago now. No doubt I was tired or half asleep and not on the ball but human error is inevitable at some point.

Pop up box or a lock down option for equipped items would fix all.

Jabrody is right the Reducing Tool should warn you. Lesser work for the [GM] too^^

oh btw...i was always wondering why reinforced Gear won`t bring back more Xeons.

If a Item is reinforced to +10, than i should get at least 50 % back from the Xeons during the reduce Process.

You could make it so that +20 Items give 75 % back (from the Basic Xeons) and +30 Items 100 % (see what i did here?!)

Same for Enchanted Items...

Just on a Side note.

I did this back in 2009 when I accidentally reduced my s1 siren's poison tooth which they never restored.

Tool should warn you when an item is either reinforced or enchanted.

Off topic:

Megaphones should be tradeble or bound to account not per character.

Had this happen swaping out Strongest Gears and a bit of Lag...  My suggestion...

After this bad expierence, I suggest that ANY item this is REINFORCED and or ENCHANTED not be able to be sold/reduced or Destroyed. The only way that is should be possible to remove the item is from a SPECIAL Vender that only takes Reinforced/Enchanted items...

Problem solved.... People may still lose UNreinforced gears, but thats not a big issue as losing a +30 8/8...

Yea, you're right. There are very few times when I have ever needed to reduce a forged item, so maybe forged items should have their reduction ability removed as an alternative option to adding a warning notice.
