Inventory only and only if the item is tradeable in the first place.
fill ur inventory with soul bound items, shields of time and space, dss, and cash vault all ur cash items... 100% safe there xD
but yeah... i dont see how its not been fixed or even noted by any server yet (havent browsed other forums, bad assumption, not everywhere is as quiet as here) :/

Just checking, but it would still be safe to CoD right?
Just be sure you don't reply to any mail. As in, do not push the button that says reply when you receive mail. As long as you don't do that, you can still CoD/send whatever you want in the mail.

Oh . I replied twice. But just checked and thank god nothing (at least nothing that I remember being there or is valuable) got lost.So that's why some turd named Akibara sent me a mail today saying "Reply, need to talk".
Good thing I was too lazy to reply.

While it won't allow you to "accidentally" mail unmailable items (like soul bound stuff) it will take something that occupies the same slot as your prior mails item.
So a Red pot from row/colum A3 sent in a mail to Bob is emptied, and then you send a mail to Lisa but moved a chicken leg to A3 your mail will invisibly have the chicken leg as an attachment.
There won't be a visible representation of the mail having an outgoing attachment.
2 ways to "clear" this, one is close the mailbox completely after any attachment mail.
Two, to press the "remove" button to un attach the invisible thing.
Of course this issue needs fixed, but temporarily you can use those 2 methods to avoid accidental gifting to your mailees.

We have verified and duplicated this serious bug with the mailing system.

Oh, that explains how the item is selected. Thanks, and I hope it gets fixed soon!

But seriously, it sounds really dumb and I usually never venture to my mailbox, and if so very rarely. Glad it was looked upon and is currently being fixed
