Free Stat and skill resets FAQ

We're all pleased as punch to see returning players coming back to check out the game as we gear up to launch Free to Play on the Premium servers, and just wanted to answer a big question that a lot of you might have.
1. When is the reset NPC coming back?
For those of you who came back after the recent removal of the free skill/stat reset NPC or who procrastinated in bringing a character to see them before the end of the event, the NPC will be returning for two weeks when the F2P goes live in March.
2. Can I write in for a skill/stat reset?
Regarding the post from Heimdallr in the patch notes for people writing in for a stat/skill reset: http://forums.warppo...notes-01202011/.
As of earlier last week the CS Team will not be able to offer the stat/skill reset, you can wait until the NPC returns or use the Kafra Shop neuralizer/reset stones to respec your character.
3. When the NPC comes back, can I talk to them with a previously reset character?
The hypnotist NPC will still remember if you already did a reset on that character during the previous events.

I sent in for a stat reset just last week. I was told they would be happy to do the reset, but it hadn't happened yet and I get a response to my ticket today saying they can't process my request and pointed me to this post.
Seriously? I've never been told by any customer service that they can do something and then they turn around and say they can't.
So here I am, excited to come back cause a couple of my friends play, but I have characters I can't play with because I was unfortunate enough to not be able to come back when the last stat reset npc was in. And I'm told that I can either wait and not use my characters til March, or *pay more* to be able to actually use my characters now. I'm sure as hell not going to pay extra to just be able to use my characters. And I'm pretty sure I won't wait around til March. Even though I usually enjoy coming back to RO, this time has been quite a disappointment.
I was actually really looking forward to this going f2p, cause I was going to play casually and using the item mall. Not now. I'll never purchase anything from Gravity ever again.

But I agree with you they should keep the NPC in and restrict it by checking how old the character is or via confirmation code given when they re-activate / link up an old account on WP or something. Then returning players can just log-on, reset and be on their way.

Nah, three of my characters are 99 trans. I didn't finish getting their job levels the last time I was able to play tho :\
And yeah, I don't see why they didn't keep the NPC in. Not everyone can come back at specific times.

The characters need to be at 0 weight and no cart/pet/mount/bird and it was becoming too much "GM checks" woops not ready, delay task, GM checks next day and again not ready. The time per ticket was absurd, so we are going to put the NPC in for a short duration and get everyone at once.
If there was a way to have the NPC detect how "old" the character was, then we would do that, but that isn't a function that is possible without setting it up in October.

Fine fine. But the real reason I'm angry is that I was told just 2 days ago, in reply to my ticket that "we'll be more than happy to assist with the one time skill/stat reset for players who missed the recent reset NPC event." And today it's like "Well, actually, we don't feel like it." If it's something you're going to stop offering, fine. But if you already told someone you were going to reset stats on their character, you should follow through.

As a constructive idea, why don't you limit the NPC to non third classes? 99 trans is only 4.74% of the total exp you need for 150 3rd class. Nobody who is coming back is going to be a 3rd class. I'm sure if you mention in big red shiny letters on the change NPCs/Patcher about the skill/stat reset people will get the hint.

Does this mean a character that has already used the reset NPC can't reset? or does this mean that we will have to pay zeny accumatively like last time to reset?

I would like to know now because I have no intention of paying money to reset my character(s) for reasons related to changing game physics. I would rather leave as many of my characters as I can with their points undistributed than pay $15 each to redo them because of game balancing.
I ask this because with regards to the WoE damage reduction thread, Heim has come forward with the knowledge that there are class balancing patches coming in the future, and that the increased reduction of WoE damage is a temporary fix.

Which hypnotist? The zeny one or the one time free skills/stats one? I think the zeny one would be a better idea, if only so returning players get to test the new builds before sticking to one. It would also serve as a fun way to reduce the zeny circulation for those who love to reset their builds, last time people spent several millions on these resets.

If in the future significant changes to a class take place we will provide a reset means for a couple of weeks, ie a major Royal Guard Change.
