I know its been posted already but none of the answers helped me at all.
I get this messege after i enter the username and password.
I reinstalled on a diffrent folder, I did the manual patch.
For some reason I dont have Renewal.exe or the other exe mentioned
on other posts just Ragnarok.exe, Ragexe.exe and Setup.exe
I have an windows XP and every system requirerment is passed.
How can I fix it? I never played this before and I really want to.
PLZ help me.

Well if you installed with a version that doesn't have the other ones, that's good. That means there's no chance of not having the problem due to an insufficiently updated client. Also, the symptoms are different anyway - that issue was failed to connect after selecting server. It sounds like you're getting failed to connect as soon as you enter un/pw - which means that RO is unable to connect to the internet at all.

My guess is that you have windows firewall running, and have not told it to unblock RO. You need to unblock Ragexe and Ragnarok in order for RO to work.

You can also check if you have more than 1 internet connection running (ie, VPN networks), that could also block your connection.

Just gonna quote myself here for lack of a better answer:

Hmm in that case I don't know.

Are we 100% sure it is not a patcher problem? (ie: are you running all .exe's under 'run as admin mode'?)
If you know someone with a working copy of iRO, we used to be able to copy the entire game folder to another computer and it would work, not sure it this is still possible with all the new clients but it could be worth a try.

I can't figure out how to do spoiler tags either ;-)
Do WP forums even support them?

In any case, your problem is not DirectX related. DirectX is graphics and sound. Actually, I can't think of any cases where the issue was DirectX-related and the client got that far. Usually directx issues result in the client dying as soon as it starts.

That you can't connect to private servers either confirms that it's not a patch problem (which i was satisfied that it wasn't, by this point).

Your issue is a connectivity issue. Something, somewhere, is preventing RO from connecting to the server.

What's your network layout like? What sort of internet connection, any routers, etcetera.
Are you at a school, where the routers are beyond your control and might be blocking some ports?
How many network adaptors do you have installed?
Do you have any VPN software installed (hamachi is known to break RO, and probably other stuff)? Any other network related stuff (anonymizers, proxys, etcetera)?
What, if any, security/antivirus/etc software are you running?
Is windows firewall disabled?
Was RO previously working on that computer? I feel like I remember you saying it used to work, but while reviewing the thread, I can't find the quote - so sorry if i'm repeating my question. If it was, was anything changed (hardware, software on your computer or elsewhere on your network)? When did it stop working?

I couldnt figure out how to quote so I copy-pasted it.

"What's your network layout like? What sort of internet connection, any routers, etcetera.
Are you at a school, where the routers are beyond your control and might be blocking some ports?"
Im at home, using wifi router(I think 10MB connection), the router is not blocking the connection couse tracect worked fine.

"How many network adaptors do you have installed?"
I have Wifi adapter on and Tunngle+Cable internet disabled.

"Do you have any VPN software installed (hamachi is known to break RO, and probably other stuff)? Any other network related stuff (anonymizers, proxys, etcetera)?"
only Tunngle, and its off.

"What, if any, security/antivirus/etc software are you running?"
none, my windows seems to hate them and makes them make problems.

"Is windows firewall disabled?"
yes(I am not that stupid, I had my large share of mmo problems).

"Was RO previously working on that computer? I feel like I remember you saying it used to work, but while reviewing the thread, I can't find the quote - so sorry if i'm repeating my question. If it was, was anything changed (hardware, software on your computer or elsewhere on your network)? When did it stop working?"
its probably from another post, its my first time playing/installing RO.

if it helps you help me then ask me anything.
BTW I have tried and played many mmo games on this computer and the only one that had serius connection problem(barely logged in)is Champions Online,
and thats only couse its too advanced for this computer and it works perfectly on my second computer.

Tunngle is probably the problem.
I know Hamachi breaks RO (and a few other games that use bone-headed methods to detect what connection to try to use) even if it isn't on.

I re-checked without Tunngle and it didnt work, but I found out that the private server problem was a patch problem and now its working fine
so I dont think this has anything to do with connectivity.
do you have any other ideas how to fix it?

I've got nothing at this point, i don't know of anyone else who has had this sort of problem and not had it corrected by steps you've already taken.

Edit - Oh, Bxkid might be having the same issue?

I'm not really sure where to go from here, really.... If I was on your machine, I'd start Diff'ing every file against the same file on a working client, extract the whole contents of all GRFs, and diff them against same from a working system, etc - to determine if it's a computer problem or a client problem (if your client was identical to a working one, then we could say with certainty that something is wrong with your computer).

I don't suppose you can think of a way to get the entire contents of your RO folder to me?

Hmmm... Are you starting the game from a Start menu/desktop shortcut? Have you tried starting just the Ragnarok.exe directly from the game's install folder? I had the same problem on my home computer (no pserver clients there).

I've got the relevant files from another user experiencing the problem. I've been super busy this week though, and havn't gotten a chance to compare them, to see if I can find a difference between the working files and the non-working ones i've been sent.

This will let us know for sure whether the problem is an issue with the players' RO instance (presumably with it's roots in a patching or similar), or an issue with the effected players' computer or network.

I knew one network admin who blocked a range of ports including 6900 (login server) because they're used by BitTorrent.

Interesting. I think at least one of the people with this problem said they were on a normal, unfettered internet connection.

Barakonda, others with this problem, what sort of internet connection do you have? Are you part of a large network (such as a university or company)?

The files from bxkid's (who's having same issue) client are identical to the ones of a working "control" client.

So i think this is a network or computer configuration issue, not a RO problem.
