June 9th Maintenance plans.

  • Sakray: Wipe all characters back to 1/1 novices in the training ground
  • Sakray: Remove the USRC resetters and storage
  • Sakray: update the maps to NOT kick out on death if the target dead people bug is not fixable by Thursday
  • Anniversary Event begins, through 7/14.
  • Muka hat event continues
  • Lady Tanee Doll event continues
  • Grandma Boxter will leave.
  • Recycler Ben : Updated - Stone Buckler added
    - Guard [1] properly showing as an option Details on Recycler update and Kafra Shop Events
  • Battle Grounds on all servers will have their randomization method updated, this should keep the disconnects in the sky from occurring.
  • Continental Guides in the cities will be talked to again about their conversation habits.
  • Cool Event Corp warp voting will be implemented on Valkyrie
  • Deep sleep Lullaby skill will be re-enabled in Guild dungeons
  • Dwarf for the seals in the dungeons, will no longer allow advancement if you are already in conversation with him and the seals all release.
    In effect this means having conversation already opened will not be a benefit.
  • All +10 Kafra Shop foods will give +15 to their stats until June 28th. This applies to foods you already have and foods that are purchased now.
    The created foods in-game will also get this effect on the +10 foods.
  • KVM <-> BG tokens exchange. This will NOT work for KVM points (variables) but will work for physical tokens. Rate is going to be a decreasing rate of 3:2 loss both ways. So you are better off doing the actual battles you want.

Skill cast updates: I want to go into a bit of explanation about the skill cast time updates we have been making. One of the primary differences between our players and those that play elsewhere is how "action" oriented we tend to be. The player strategies and playstyles are more aggressive here on iRO and time spent "casting" or waiting to act again seem to be more aggravating than seen as a chance to "relax". I do agree that skill spam at = speed to attacking is not a beneficial thing due to load and how quickly that can overpower 1 build over another. Cast times and reuse timers are a great piece to the balance puzzle, but it is only a piece.

Most of the cast times that are aggravating is when it is "fixed" meaning stat options are irrelevant so you can't get better at casting faster.
And the re-use delay that we've seen as aggravating is the "global" reuse delays. Meaning you cast [skill] and you can do NOTHING until that delay is expired. More balance needs to be given towards making that 1 skill unusable again for x period of time.
For the most part my feelings are that global reuse delays need to be kept short, except for skills that have long lingering effects (like an AOE that hits the room 10 seconds can have a longer reuse delay than say "lex Aeterna" which targets 1 enemy.), and in the cases with too long a global reuse we are switching it to a "specific" reuse delay timer for only that skill.

An example of this in today's Patch is the Priest skill Lex Aeterna. It has no cast time, but a Global reuse timer of 3 seconds. This means the priest is not useful for 3 seconds. Instead we are changing it to 1 second global reuse timer, and a 3 second specific timer. So the Priest can start doing stuff after 1 second of downtime, but may not use Lex Aeterna again for 3 seconds. All the skill cast times we have been adjusting are for the purpose of getting the classes to feel battle worthy, and not always on downtime timers. When we get the balance patches that update lots of skills we will return the skill timers to "default" and re-adjust permanently. But the only skills that will get re-adjusted to out current "test" times will be the ones we get feedback that it was a desired change.

The negative feedback only tells us to be back at the drawing board, the positive feedback tells us we did a good change.


Skill Changes with this patch:


  • Soul Exhale : old 3s Fixed cast
    Soul Exhale : new 1s Fixed cast new 3.5s Fixed cast decreases .5s per skill level. Add 1s Stat Varialbe Cast time.
  • Indulge : old .8s global reuse delay +.2s per skill level.
    Indulge : new .5s global reuse delay. Has .8ss specific reuse delay +.2s per skill level
  • Fire, Wind, Water, Earth weapon endows have their Fixed cast times reduced
    Old 3s.
    New 3.5s , reduced .5s per level.
  • Energy Coat : old 5s fixed cast time
    Energy Coat: new 3s Fixed cast time
  • Ganbantein : old 3s fixed cast time; 5s Global reuse delay
    Ganbantein : new 1.5s Fixed Cast: 2.5s Global Reuse delay
  • Gravitation Field: Old 4s Global reuse delay + 1s per lvl
    Gravitation Field: New 2.5s Global Reuse Delay: added Skill specific reuse delay of 4s +1s per skill level
  • Venom Splasher: old 6.5s +.5s/sk level specific skill reuse delay.
    Venom Splasher: new 2.7s +.3s/sk level specific skill reuse delay
  • Lex Aeterna: old 3s Global reuse delay
    Lex Aeterna: new 1s Global Reuse delay added 3s Specific skill reuse delay.
  • Lex Divina : old 3s Global reuse delay
    Lex Divina : new 1s Global reuse delay
  • Gloria Domini : old 1.5s +.5s per skill level global reuse delay
    Gloria Domini : new 2s Global reuse delay
  • Magnus Exorcismus : 2.5s Global Reuse delay
  • Howling Mandragora: old 20s specific skill reuse delay. 0 fixed cast delay
    Howling Mandragora: new 30s specific skill reuse delay. 1s fixed cast delay
  • Manhole : new 5s Specific skill reuse delay
  • High Heal : old 0s +3s/sk level specific skill reuse delay
    High Heal : new 0s +1s/sk level specific skill reuse delay
  • Clearance : old 10s specific skill reuse delay
    Clearance : new 11.5s - 1.5s/sk level specific skill reuse delay
    Clearance should now be targettable on anything. Seems that we will need to test further to avoid unfortunate ill-mannered.
  • Arrow Slinging and Melody Strike : old 1200 stat cast time
    new : no stat cast time only the .3s fixed cast time remains (similar to DS)
  • Arrow Vulcan Stat variable cast time reduced to .44s +.06s /sk level stat reducible cast time.
Oh I hear the Eden group has found a volunteer who had an old warp to West Orc Village.. The Eden Group warper can give VIP members a way over to fight lots and lots of ORCS! We don't know how long he will keep his warp before the GM team finds him and removes his warp.

I feel comfortable about most of these ideas. But yeah, please be learning Scholar skills? This is Soul Exhale not Soul Siphon you're talking about right?

Im willing to stick with the current scholar indulge/ soul exhale cast times and what not. Just please think about making it give up to atleast 75% mana to my target.

I like what I'm seeing (except the error on Soul Exhale obviously)
Maybe would make sense to create a stickied thread that lists all the iRO exclusive adjustments,
to avoid confusion
to discuss whether the changes are great or bad
to discuss whether to keep them even with kro patches that are coming
to discuss any other desired adjustments of crappy skills
...

does this mean like an exchange ether way to turn BG tokens into KVM tokens?

adding a reuse delay is a big nerf. this pretty much kills the lex spam in strings for et or mvping in general

Not really, because Clearance will remove everything, including stuff you want on your enemies like GX Poisons and such.
