There's plenty of classes that need specific items to make use of some skills.
So they spend time farming them or buy them from bots that farm them faster anyway.
Some of these items have really low drop rates or even a low number of mob spawns.

The examples that come to mind are Karvo, Rune stuff and geneticist items like Detonator and Gun Powder...

How about if there was daily repeatable quests that would enable players to buy a bunch of the items they need?

Ill make an example for Karvo.
A SinX is able to do a quest starting in the Assassin guild blah blah. When he's done, he could talk to an NPC that came to pron from the Assassin guild, to do some short simple task (talk to another npc, or kill a monster, or answer a random EDP related question or something..) and then get the choice of buying say 5 Karvo for 100k in NPC dialog (non discountable like Speed pots and alch books)

Of course, every item would need proper consideration as to how many can safely be handed out by such quests daily without making some skill that's not supposed to be spammed a hundred times the norm of its class etc.

So if this idea was going to be implemented, what items would be on the list? how many would you be able to get daily and for what cost? and what would the quest for specific items require you to do?

- Karvo - 5 - 20k each - SinX only - initial quest in sin guild, then NPC in pron for daily
-...

(btw is my example too good?)

I like this idea. Sadly ideas tend to die around iRO....it takes jRO to get the game developed any.

Heres a creative and fun quest i suggested ages ago....
http://forums.warppo...ay-of-downtime/

Got alot of people interested, but no real momentum to implement it.

They should make future MvPs drop materials instead of new weapons. Then the player takes those materials to a blacksmith friend who forges the new weapon for him. The blacksmith earns exp or ranking or he gets to keep the byproduct that was created during forging, like 20 Bradium or something. Of course, a system would need to be implemented to allow the smith to forge the item directly through the trade window to prevent scamming.

For lore and immersion, you can make each weapon forge-able only near a certain landmark. For example, if you were forging some new holy sword, you might have to be near the statue of freya. If you're forging some new kind of healing staff, the tree of yggdrasil.

nice quests that require people who work at kro to implement new systems and whatnot are fun to suggest and all, but I was aiming with this thread for something that is actually possible for the iRO staff to implement themselves as it wouldnt require any implementation of anything, just adding some quests... Otherwise Id have posted something completely different.

Maybe a instance where special monsters drops the special items that you need with a higher drop rate and big numbers, since heim told once that kro wants to mass murder monster to get the items, like the kafra cards(kro wanted that iro makes a kafra monster to kill)

No no no no no no
This will never work.

You see, these would be quests worth doing, and you know how much kro and heim hates that.

They should award you EXP for manufacturing, brewing, or forging. That way, forgers and brewers can actually level without being leeched.

Id think these could level now when weapon atk makes a bigger difference, dex is THE stat to get and luk aint that awful.
Its more that there's been nothing new to forge, since blacksmith class was implemented, that is lame.

But exp for doing these things wouldnt be a bad thing.

Yet again, can we stay on stuff that can be actually done?

I tend to avoid playing classes that are item dependant, hence why I didn't try making a complete list on my own...

You very clearly identify the main problem. In all honesty, the act of taking materials to a player for forging should be commonplace, but all the best weapons are dropped...not forged by a player. That would add a much deeper level of community interaction between players.

I think it would be great if there were more player made stuff.
It should also be a clearly profitable thing that doesn't require mvp tier crap as materials.

Look, you got so much crap made by npcs, but then you've got these high tier mvps being killed by a few, or even just one person.

If someone can solo shadow of niddhorg, I think someone can make a tool designed for breaking apart ice.

Yea lets make a thread about it and meanwhile go to topic by talking about how much Gunpowder for what task a daily quest would be OK to give out. :mwahaha:

Look, the suggestion is actually something that can be realised by iRO staff on their own (right?).

I think the reason people aren't responding is because it doesn't seem very well thought out. It sounds like somebody just wants stuff handed to them.

Those materials you mentioned are uncommon for a reason. The trade-off of having powerful skills like EDP and Rune Mastery is that they're expensive to use, due to the materials being harder to farm.

Putting things like Karvo in an NPC for a fixed price will cap the Karvo market. It's usually a better idea to let the players run the free market uninhibited. If killing Poison Spores becomes valued at 500k per Karvo then that's what people will pay of their own free will. These are business opportunities that keep the game fun and interesting. It's the constant ebb and flow of supply and demand, a never-ending race of who can discover the niche first, put forth the effort, and claim the prize at the end of the day.

As for the bot problem, go do some surveys, buy a month of VIP, make 9 characters on Ymir and join the online sensation before we all murder you!
I think Cartman said that or something.

From what I understand GX's need EDP just to train properly.
EDP got nerfed to high hell anyway, I think it would be fair to reduce the materials needed to make it too.

It's usually a better idea to let the players run the free market uninhibited.

Yeah, no.
Do you even understand why the raffles that gave copious amounts of starsand and karvo happened?

Yeah, no.
Do you even understand why the raffles that gave copious amounts of starsand and karvo happened?

I wasn't around for that, but I'll take a guess.

People probably complained about overpriced starsand and karvo.

Starsand - Nobody levels in Bathories anymore, at least not like they used to, so I imagine the starsand market became more and more barren. This probably caused a lack of interest in the brewing system because farming them yourself is a full time job. Chances are, the GMs noticed this lack of interest/activity and did what was necessary to revive that part of the game.

Karvo - There are no more bot farms on Ymir, so Karvo must have disappeared almost literally, driving the value through the roof. When prices go up, it's an equally good and bad thing, but most people only look at the bad. You have to pay more to buy them, but you also get just as much more from selling them. But who wants to farm Karvo? It's boring, even if it is good money. Being consumable, there's never a break. People will consume as much as there is available, forcing those few entrepreneurs back into the field for another fun-filled week of blaaaaaaaaargghhh. Eventually people just get sick of farming and complain to the GMs. Once again, the GMs probably did what was necessary to keep things running the way we're used to. Expect to see more starsand and karvo boxes in the future when the supply runs out.

Many such items are quite uncommon and take way too much time to farm by yourself.
For example gun powder, theres only one monster that drops it at a horrible rate on a single map in the game, and even there the spawn is crap.
Yet you need gun powder for like every other geneticist skill.

It wouldnt be that bad if a geneticist that did a quest could get 2 dozen gun powders or so from a NPC each day. It would even take zeny out of the game, which cannot be wrong when RO desperately needs zeny-vents.

And with karvo,
EDP used to be amazing, now its more of a casual lvling boost so you arent the slowest leveling class. here is no logic why it remained to be so uncommon when its use got nerfed badly.

When so many items are pretty much needed in bulk, I think a way to supply yourself legitimately and without a huge investment of time is a good idea. I'd much rather earn karvo (or other uncommonly dropped supplies for everyday skills) than buy them from what are most likely bots, but farming something like that from monsters just doesn't work well.

And yes, you pretty much need to use EDP just to level reasonably now, at least at higher levels.
