I'm just curious as to how long it takes for a character to get transferred from one server to the other? And is there an item capacity limit in the inventory?

There are very strict limits on what you can carry over (almost no etc-type items, and limited quantities of gear - due to abuse in the past). This is described fully in the server transfer terms and conditions.
