I was just trying to upgrade an item for a guildmate and discovered that you can no longer open HD boxes while in mid-dialogue with Mighty Hammer. So you either open everything at once, or pray it stops at +7 when you're running low.

Don't care. I keep 200-500 ores in my inventory. The fact that you could open boxes in the middle of the dialogue window is one of the reasons why the market is so messed up. People practically had a 0% chance of failing at upgrades if they could keep opening boxes.

This must be part of the update that makes it so you can no longer use skills during NPC chat.

No more potting or emergency teleports from dungeon NPC traps...

(I could have sworn there was a webcomic (Ragnarok Wisdom, maybe?) in which the characters were slowly mauled by monsters as they were forcibly regaled with the details and history of some landmark. I can't seem to find it now.)

That's pretty much on par with that KVM Katar I +10'd a while back, stocked up about 750 ores and it +10'd with one ore.

Every test I've ever done when in the upgrading dialog has NEVER allowed opening of new boxes. This was reported before that they couldn't use the kafra to pull more out like "before" which that has been disabled for over a year.

This isn't greed, it is the way it is and should be, I would like to know what happened to allow it recently, if it was allowed recently.

In the last upgrading event with the enriched ores, you were able to open boxes from your inventory as you needed them mid-dialogue. You could not though open kafra and get more, or buy more from the NPC mid Kafra. Pretty sure it has been that way for some time too.
