add an option for different skin tones to the character creation screen

somehow, especially the 2nd option, seems more racist then the actual system to me... ._.

but yeah, get what you're targeting at and I don't mind personally. But I don't think it's possible. For every skin color, every sprite must have an alternate sprite, that again has to be made in a way that no colored version (incl High Novice and High First Cls) intereferes with it palette wise...
Don't get me wrong, it surely would be nice, but I don't see it as possible, this would cause an aweful lot of work...

people will find racism wherever they actively go searching for it..
For some.. its almost a profession to create intent where there was none..
regardless.. I only ask that the concept itself is not lost in the focal point of one opinion

Man I would LOVE to have a skin-tone option. Your edits only look off because they're not using the RO palette (the colours should be a bit more desaturated imo), but that kinda thing is definitely doable. It'd just take way more effort than kRO is willing to put in, I'm sure.

Yup, personally adding any way to customize one's RO character would be a plus-if kRO would be willing to do it.

Heck yes, I would play the hell outta some purple-toned characters XD



Here's my attempt at some alternate skin tones. Pale, peach (original), olive, light brown, and dark brown. I tried to make them work with RO's palette.

(And yes, I know it's not intended or evil minded at all, but it seems so off to me...)

And... I still don't think that this is even possible... it would be nice, but waaaay too much work.
We have 50 different Character Cls ingame (including Kagoru/Oboru), 100 if you add the gender, 210 if you count in the mounts incl class mounts (Peco, Dragon, Warg, etc) and Baby Dancer differences. 216 if you also add Santa Suit, Summer Costume and Wedding Dress, 218 including GMs. Count that x3 for all official dye options and you still don't have high novice and high first cls dye options included.
One Char Sheet exists of at least 50 different sprites.
What you're asking for is a nice thought and would be great, no question about that, but "impossible" if you don't wanna wait 1-2 years for any other new updates and stuff...

Um I'm Greek and my skin tone is olive =|a It's actually a legit skin tone people have, largely mediterranean peoples, though it does show up in Asians.

Anyway you're right that it's a lot of work, but it's still doable, just like character dyes were a lot of work but doable. The problem is just that kRO doesn't care enough to give us that kind of customizability. Japan and Korea have really homogeneous populations so there isn't much skin-tone variation there and thus not a lot of demand from players to be able to change their characters' skin tone. They don't care what iRO wants because we don't make them money like kRO/jRO
