Hi there!

Returning player here. Started out back in the open beta days. And have only played a few times here and there. Still consider myself totaly n00bish in iRO.

Well I was totaly bored and thanks to www.mmoculture.com I got my eyes on iRO again :) And been enjoying the hell outa Renewal.
Playing Thief 31/26 on Valkyrie server. This is the highest level I have gotten ever in iRO :D

But as I started leveling I looked around for builds to help me out. But there is a realy big collection of data and builds on different sites. Some says what skills you should choose, some only say gear, some stats etc etc.

And exactly what build I want/should do is hard to set up.. When some are only based for Classical and some don't say renewal or classical :P In other words CONFUSING :P

I want a Katar wielding Assassin PVM/PVP/WOE all confusing to me, so I focus on PVM (why its PVM in iRO amuses me when all other mmo use PVE ).

When it comes to job changes I think I have figured it out. Novice->Thief(job 40 or 50?)->Assasin Lv99/50->Assassin Transcend->High Novice->High Thief->Assassin Cross->Guillotine Cross

1. Only question regarding job change is as thief to Assassin do I change at job 40 or 50 ? When looking on skill builders, I get more skillpoints if going to thief 50.
The current skills i want from Thief are:
Double Attack 10
Improved Dodge 10
Steal 10
Hiding 10
Envenom 8
Detoxify 1

With theese skills I need to be job 50 Thief. Or am I wrong ? If I shouldnt do theese skills and wanna change at 40 Thief, what changes ?

2. Stats
As mentioned above, Assassin Katar standard is my goal..
Str 90-99
Agi 99
Dex 25-35
Luk 30-40
Int 1
Vit 1

And I only start pumping Luk until I have changed to Assassin? Currently on 1. Any comments regarding planned stat build?

3. What Assassin skills should i choose when combined with the 2 other questions above ?
Since im gonna use Katars, ( 2 of em ? ) I raise both left and right hand mastery + katar mastery to max ? And what other skills works great with my plans ?

A long post this.. Ragnarok Online looks so simple and cute when looking on pictures and such. But when you start playing, its actually ratyher complex. And very custom friendly. But most combinations are just silly, and I dont wanna go in that trap. So any help guiding is super helpful.

In advance Thanks!!
( hoping the work day goes by faster so I can go home and level up some more )

Thief Job lvl 40:

http://irowiki.org/~...?10GQJfJfGAcAcL
(I recommend maxing out Hiding to make proper use of Grimtooth, remaining points to put whereever you like)

You don't need job lvl 50 before trans, though in renewal getting to job 50 won't take too long.

As High Thief you definately should consider going for job lvl 50, while having Envenom on level 10 (for create/enchant deadly poison) and Steal on 8.

Left hand and right hand mastery do not influence Katar type weapons, they only boost damage when you have 2 weapons equipped (i.e. 2 daggers; 1 sword & 1 axe; etc.)

You only need 3 points on Right Hand Mastery to get the Meteor Assault skill, though this won't be until you're an Assassin Cross:

this one is with Meteor Assault maxed out.

Thanks for reply. :)

So stat wise im ok with current plan ?

I will change to Assassin as 40 and adjusted the skills as you mentioned. And I dont need to focus on hand mastery, only right hand level 3. ( this build http://irowiki.org/~...?10GQJfJfGAcAcL )

_Nothing else I should keep my eyes up for ?

I don't know too much about the right stat distribution for renewal, but if you orient yourself on the builds on irowiki you can't go much wrong then.
Also, the best would be if you would join a guild in Valkyrie with many players in it
There will surely be some Assassins which can help you to with your stat build.

^ for job 40 before trans.

This is the GX skill tree:
http://irowiki.org/~...skill4/glx.html

Keep following things in mind when becoming an Assassin Cross:
10 Envenom needed for Create/Enchant Deadly Poison.
3 Right Hand Mastery needed if you want the Meteor Assault Skill.
10 Sonic Blow to access some 3rd class attack skills.
5 Left Hand Mastery to access 3rd class attack skills.

This skill build:
http://irowiki.org/~...BFHNmnboGS9akwY
Allows you to get the 3rd class skills, yet it only comes with Cloaking on level 8.

That's why you should ask other GX players ingame, since I'm not too sure which skills are effective and which are useless for a GX.

Also, there is this guide here aswell:

Again thanks for reply :) this is great help ! Starting to understand more and more. The sin guide is gold. I'll look into guilds, and it will take some time for me to get to Assassin cross, since I only play casually. Family life first ;)

But as i progress the game becomes more and more fun. And with the Eden group missions etc leveling is fast. And I only rememeber how long it took to level up to 20 base job in open beta :P now it was done in a few hours lol. Considering getting VIP so it will speed up 50% more :P

Don't forget to get the Eden Equipment Items:
http://irowiki.org/w...quipment_Quests

They'll ease up things until you reach higher levels.

Going job 50 as thief will get you bonuses sometimes. In the case of assassin I believe you get a better weapon. If you're rich and just want to rebirth as soon as possible to get to GX then going job 40 is completely fine as assassin as Morlord said. However, when you are High Thief and changing to Assassin Cross after your rebirth, definitely get to the job 50 first as you do want your GX to be perfect and have all skill points.

For a GX build I will recommend targeting high STR, high AGI, high VIT (around 90 for each or a little more). DEX should be medium, and LUK should be added last. You can decide to add more DEX or more LUK afterwards depending on whether you want to be more of a natural CRIT build for MVP-ing / WoE / other end game purposes. For leveling rolling cutter will be your main skill.

For a Sin build a lot of the guides and topics discussed should put you in the right track. Think of it as experimenting with builds since you will be reset after rebirth. For a SinX build, it might be a good idea to base it off of your targeted GX build to save you a reset.

sorry to bump this. In terms of raising stats, is there an order to it? Let's say Im going for a Agi > Str build, should I dump points into Agi first (with minimal into dex and str) or should I just distribute points evenly all the way up? I would like to raise the points in such a way that I can level fastest.

it generally depends on where you're going to level (or more specifically what you're going to be killing) and what gear you currently have/can afford

assuming you're going to do an agi>str>dex build. you generally could do something like 3:1:1 for agi:str:dex and it should be okay.

at lower levels, additional points into str generally wont raise your damage as much as getting better gear with higher raw damage. it would be more beneficial to raise your agi and dex since agi raises both your atk spd slightly and your flee rate where as dex raises your hit rate and base damage (the base damage increase from dex is very minimal but its still something). once you get your to safe levels then you pump str

this is just an example, not exact numbers:

str 1 ; agi 1 ; dex 1

str 1 ; agi 15 ; dex 15

str 10; agi 30 ; dex 20

str 10 ; agi 40 ; dex 30

str 20 ; agi 50 ; dex 40

str 20 ; agi 60 ; dex 50

str 25 ; agi 70 ; dex 55

str 35 ; agi 70 ; dex 60

str 40 ; agi 80 dex 60

etc.

at the same time you dont want to just pump agi all the way since later on even with high atkspd, if you're hitting monsters of your level for 10's and 20's it will still take you forever to kill them.

so with that said (and strictly stat-wise) its generally a safe bet to level (at most) 3 of your stats near-evenly. up to you which you prioritize. would suggest that be the stat that helps you survive but to each his own.
