Hi, I am having the same problem as other poster with the Rag.exe crashing when I run Ragnarok.exe and about to go into the login screen.
I also tried many other solution suggested from other posts such as disabling virus scanner, lowering UAC, etc... and still having the same problem .

I am currently using "Sophos Virus scanner".

One major thing I had noticed when running the Ragnarok.exe for the first time is that a messaged popped up saying that my Ragnarok.exe has changed. Immediately it closes the screen with the start/website/exit and opens the same screen again. The thing that confuses me is that when that happens the Patchup.exe disappeared from the folder.

Have you tried run Ragnarok.exe with Admin rights?

I tried running it in admin mode and still had the same problem.

Please try installing the game to a different location on your hard drive than your programs folder.

I installed it to my C:\Gravity\Ragnarok Online folder.
I also forgot to say that I could run Sakray without any crashes at all. I could also run ClassicRO.exe without any problem as well if I change the compatibility to win 98 but the graphic is terrible and it has random crashes while moving around inside the game.

Ok now I am having the same problems. I tried reinstalling RO from the site again, just incase something didnt upload. Now I am trying to run classic ro and i keep crashing (yes i run it on admin)

also, I can not even run regular ragnarok

I tried downloading that new Ragexe and I put it in the RO folder, and still same problem. It wont even open and classic keeps crashing

Looks like it is back to the drawing board. My game has stop working again, this time it is the clragexe and also the ragexe.exe.

never mind i got it to work some how......... but serious gravity do something. Ive been playing RO since it first came out and never had a problem till this came out. So, it aint us.

No idea why time stamp says Mon Aug 13, 2012. I am running this on sept 14, 2012.

Its the last time the client exe was recompiled.

What I did to fix this problem for me was:

1. Ragexe.exe, Ragnarok.exe, clragexe.exe, ClassicRO.exe, Sakexe.exe, Sakray.exe, Setup.exe, Setup_Classic.exe, I authorized all these files in my anti virus just to make sure they that my virus scanner doesn't go emo and starts slashing these files for no reason.

2. I set all the files on top to run as administrator and also moved the installed folder outside of the program file.

3. I ran those files in different compatibility, starting with window 95 and cycle throught it slowly until something work, and sometimes I ran them in different order. Right now my Ragnarok.exe is running in "window XP SP3" while my ragexe.exe is running in "window 98/ME" compatibility. O_o Hey it works.

4. download the ragexe.exe from Renna as well.

5. If all of the above was done and it still didn't work then I have no idea .

  Step 1. Add all the executable files into your exclusions list on your antivirus and test RO. If no good try disabling your antivirus any third party firewall software completely. Still no good? Proceed to step 2.
  
  Step 2. With your antivirus/firewall turned off. Run the patch client as administrator by going to C:\Program Files\Gravity\Ragnarok\Ragnarok.exe. Right click on the Ragnarok.exe client and select Run As > Administrator.
  Test RO. If no good proceed to step 3.
  
  Step 3. If you are spending way too much time trying to fix it then I would strongly suggest a complete uninstall and reinstall. The trick with the newer Windows operating systems is to always Run the setup file, configuration file, or first time running RO as admin. The secret is run as Admin. Even when it comes to installing or reinstalling.
  Once you have completely uninstalled RO. Proceed to reinstalling the game using the RO setup file. During the installation prompts look for a folder or destination path. Change the folder path to your Desktop or My Documents.
  Patch the game using Run As mentioned in 'Step 2.' Test RO after reinstallation. If no good proceed to step 4.
  
  Step 4. Have a beer if you're over 21 or have a rootbeer of you're under 21. Go explore real world maps and talk to real girls/boys. Make friends, money, have a lot of sex, laugh, and be happy. Profit.

Yoo this problem has been here for a Month and still no solution, Patch it up or something I dunno some people payed and they can't even Play ya know?

Only information I can provide is when I play on the "previous version" which are the restored backups, It seems to work fine other then that I crashes
