Make a shortcut on your desktop by Right Clicking and select new -> Shortcut.

Location: "C:\Program Files\Gravity\Ragnarok Online\Ragexe.exe" -1rag1

or wherever you have it installed obviously....name the short cut what you want, that will get you past the patcher issue, when you need to patch again run Ragnarok.exe...will have to think on why its doing the patch thing other than your patch2.txt doesn't have a patch its needing...i.e. it got corrupted some how.

Spoiler

You can try to copy my contents to try that.

What happened is the old patch.inf got deleted, corrupted, or is nolonger visible to the patch client due to UAC.

I'll bet this was a result of how the OP's system is reacting to the changes to privilege levels needed by the new client (how far more people need to run as admin now - and as I've noted before, the behavior of UAC in complex situations like this is hard to predict).

Let the patch run to completion and then it shouldn't have to be run again in the future.

Running the client with -1rag1 won't work, because they last played 6 months ago, and will thus be missing patches.

Worst case a fresh reinstall (after uninstalling and fully deleting the old RO folder) from the latest client will resolve it.

April 4th 2011 is not 6 months ago...also I meant let it patch and if it does it again then use the short cut, I wrote that when I was half asleep.

Oh, /facepalm.

I read "I have been playing for 6 months" as "I haven't played for 6 months" as in, they just came back from a 6 month break.

Same what? Your client is repatching from start too?

Well, once you let it run through the whole way and it finishes without problems, does it start again next time you start RO?

I strongly suspect the issue is due to inconsistent practices regarding running as admin vs not-as-admin, causing the patcher to be unable to see the right version of patch.inf; You need to ALWAYS run it as admin, or NEVER run it as admin (and I don't think the latter option will work with the current client)

welcome this is happening to me since feb. Its not your PC's fault its the client.

Edit: If you dual client the possibilities of it patching goes higher. Thats why I close my RO Client only on Wednesday (Tuesday) Maintenance.

im going to try having a friend send me all their data, system, patchclient folders, and also all their single files except for data.grf and the actual clients and see if that works... because really, I don't want to redownload... i rather kiss my money goodbye and say -_- this.

Just so you know, if you can get someone to send you the data/system/patchclient and all other single files except the actual clients/data.grf it works to fix. I just accomplished that. my RO is back up and running normal!! :D

I dont know if its jsut one file in-particular, but I didnt want to take that chance so saving over all those seemed to work for me.

The file that becomes corrupted is patch.inf. But getting this from another person can cause problems, because if they'd applied patches you hadn't, your client wouldn't download those patches, and then you would experience problems as a result of missing that patch.

Make sure you get it from someone who has all the patches you have had then? Like someone who has been playing a shorter time than you, same server etc...?

Here are a few patch.inf files that can be used to fix this problem.

You MUST use a file for a date BEFORE the last time you successfully patched, otherwise you'll be missing patches

ONLY USE THIS FIX IF YOUR PATCHER CAN SUCCESSFULLY DOWNLOAD PATCHES, BUT JUST STARTS FROM 2011-4-4, AND YOU HAVE PREVIOUSLY PATCHED SUCCESSFULLY.

In other situations, using these files can BREAK YOUR CLIENT requiring a FULL REINSTALL

August 16 (first patches applied by freshly dl'ed client): http://drazzy.com/patch/2012-8-16.zip
September 18: http://drazzy.com/patch/2012-9-18.zip

These files are provided without warranty.
Before deciding to use them, you should be willing to re-install if it somehow breaks things.

Make sure you get it from someone who has all the patches you have had then? Like someone who has been playing a shorter time than you, same server etc...?

It needs to be from someone who has not applied any patches you haven't.

Say you and your friend start up RO. You find that your client is patching from the start, but his client successfully applies a patch. You cannot use his patch.inf now, because he just successfully applied a patch.
