Funny, this has been happening to me recently.
Try this (when you know it's failing) - Open a command window
Start -> Run, type 'cmd' (without the ' marks) and press enter
-or-
Start, type 'cmd' in the search box and press enter
Then type:
ping ropatch1.gravityus.com
When I try this, when it's failing, I'm told it cannot find host, which represents a DNS error. Is this what's happening to you?
I don't know what's been causing it, but in the past 2 weeks, I've been intermittently unable to resolve specific warpportal related sites.

I am having the same problem and when I did ping ropatch1.gravityus.com it said could not find host. Is something wrong on gravity's end?

Ah, you too?Azzy,
I am having the same problem and when I did ping ropatch1.gravityus.com it said could not find host. Is something wrong on gravity's end?
Yeah - I don't know if it's something on gravity's end per se, or some DNS failure somewhere up the chain - but it's gotta be related to gravity at some level, since it only effects resolving their domain names.
Adding this to your hosts file will fix it - but when they change the IP address in the future, this will prevent you from accessing the patch server :-/
128.241.93.38 ropatch1.gravityus.com
I just ticketed into WP support to alert them to this issue (now that it's clear it's not unique to me)
The whole domain name resolution system is a real dog's breakfast. It's relied upon very heavily, yet it's appallingly unreliable, and fixes when it encounters problems are all adhoc and incomplete. For example, why the hell, when looking up a hostname we've looked up hundreds of times in the past, using a notoriously unreliably method, and it has always pointed at the same IP - when the resolution fails, does windows not try the old IP?

Right Click and select "Run as Administrator"
After it opens type the following:
ipconfig /flushdns
See how that does for you afterwards.

Lynex,

Did you open up the command prompt as administrator? It shouldn't give you any problems if you did.

oh okay. So i ran as admin and i got:
"Windows IP Configuration
Successfully flushed the DNS Resolver Cache."
patcher still doesn't work :/ what's funny tho is that my brother who's playing on the mac can run the client and get in the game just fine.

I'll have to put something together so people can check for sure.
Edit:
Humor me for a moment. Find out if your version of Windows is 32-Bit or 64-Bit.
If its 32-Bit Click Here
If its 64-Bit Click Here
Download and run the program. You'll get a prompt after starting it asking if you'd like to install the software or just run it once to do a system scan. Select the One-Time run option.
There is no need to do any of the registration on the bottom half of the screen. Click Next, and let it scan (it can take a while, or no time at all).
(If it finds a proxy or a rootkit/bootkit it will put that at the top of the list.)
After the scan is done, if it has found any Malware/Viruses/Whatever it will allow you to clear all of the crap up if you register the program (which can be done via a free 30 day trial within the software). Click next and it will take you to the registration page where you can select to have it do a 30 Day Evaluation.
After you have done that, it will start working its way through all of the found problems and prompt you to restart afterwards if anything really nasty was found.
After the reboot, see if your problem persists.
The worst that can happen is that it doesn't fix your problem, but gets rid of some nasty that has been hiding on your computer for a while.
The best that can happen is that it gets rid of all of the on your system and fixes your problem at the same time.

Type in the directory your game folder is located. Mine is in d: but yours could be in c:
I think for most people it would be c:\program files\Gravity\ragexe.exe 1rag1
Click OK and it should bypass the patch.

I wanted to try and switch our primary network to WPA but that won't work, so I'm not sure what I can do to even try to fix this problem. My other friends doesn't seem to have this problem at all though.
