I get this pop up everytime I come to this site (which didn't start appearing until this morning), asking me that the certificate cannot be verified and gives me options to Continue or Cancel. I've browsed google for solutions to stop it from popping up, but there are none for iPad that I can find. Also I'm getting mixed answers with people saying it's malware, and others saying that it's Facebooks universal protocol or something, and that it happens to these sites with the Like statuses and stuff so it's safe. Which is it?

I get that with other sites, but usually with restarting the browser it works fine. If you do the same and it works fine, there is nothing to worry about. Just in case, though, you should download and run the program Malwarebytes Anti-Malware

I can confirm that that is definitely for Facebook Connect after doing a search for it. Sometimes, in certain browsers if the browser or a plug-in updates, as well as a temporary loss in your connection, windows like the one you describe pop-up, but they usually disappear when you re-load the browser. Sometimes MalWare causes it, but not that often.

This is an issue with Akamai technology (whose servers are involved in just about every major website, either providing mirroring for the site owner, or for advertising partners - they're huge, and usually invisible) serving content with a bad configured certificate. They are rolling out a fix.

A workaround is here: https://discussions....463457?tstart=0

The issue seems to only effect mac users using Safari (most likely because it's trying to serve advertisements targeted towards Apple users)
