Yeah folks, the problem is really avast... try rightclick in its icon and choose "deactivate all modules" in the module control option (for your safety, turn it on again after your playing).

Telling someone to disable their virus protection as anything other than a temporary testing measure is not responsible advice.
Also - unfortunately - not all of the grav-error-on-start issues are due to over-aggressive AV software.
