I got back to killing some yoyos after trans-ing my hunter, and to my surprise, I see loot disappearing.

Example:
I walk into an area with 3 poporings and 5 yoyos. I proceeded to kill each of them one by one, and I notice 2 of the yoyos dropping a strawberry each. However, by the 6th kill, ALL of the strawberries had disappeared.

This was something that I did NOT experience 3 weeks ago. And it happened on multiple instances, so it wasn't just an isolated case. Is this because of VIP's boosted drop rates clashing with looting monsters' mechanics or something? Back when I didn't experience this nonsense was before I bought VIP.

Once a Looter monster has picked up 10 items, all items it picks up after that will vanish, and will not be dropped when it is killed. Depending on the order that it loots items, this may mean that the items you want are lost, or it could mean that the items you don't care about are lost, depending on the order you picked them up. The key thing to remember is that a looter monster that's been picking up stuff is going to blackhole anything it picks up, so you need to avoid killing high value targets when you know there are full looters around you.

This is normal, and is correct behavior (there are very good reasons for a cap on the number of items that a looter monster can carry; if there wasn't, I can think of several game-breaking abuses that would be possible)

So it IS indeed due to VIP's drop rate increase that is giving this problem, indirectly. Well shucks, that means it is actually BETTER to farm yoyos as a non-vip unless you kill with AoE, or rather you'd have to avoid high density areas.

Thanks for answering DrAzzy

Er, or just assist mob yoyos and drag off screen and kill with AoE (or one at a time)? They won't loot if they're attacking you, and they won't loot if they're dead. +50% drop rate most definitely makes hunting monsters for any drop better.

As a 1agi build, I cant really afford to be tanking the yoyos (especially since they assist when near one who is attacking you). In any case I've moved on to another spot already.

Yoyos don't exactly hurt much. I'd take advantage of the assist, and use it to make big mobs, and then blow the whole mob up with an AoE skill (which you presumably have if you're 1 agi. Merchants have revo, mages have several options (if you went firewall, the fireball you got as prereq should do the trick; just about the only practical use of that skill, and it casts fast), thiefs don't have 1 agi, swordies have magnum break (fire ele too, should make quick work of them), archers have arrow shower, and acos aren't very good at hunting stuff in general...
