Im going to be getting the windows 8 tablet (surface Pro) when it comes out, does anyone know if i can run RO on it. I thought i might be able to because i also heard it was a pc.

It should work. However if you are using the onscreen keyboard dont expect RO to be in actual playable state

Keyboard highly suggested for RO Regardless. It's not "optimized" for touch-screen only per say.

RO should work - but we're still in very new territory here, and nobody can guarantee anything.

You will likely need mouse freedom in order to make the mouse/touchscreen work. You may or may not be able to make the touchscreen work to control RO (so far we're 1 for 1 on whether it can be made to work, AFAIK - but I only know about people who had problems, so there may be more who have not had problems).

There are existing threads with some pointers on making it work on Win8 in the tech support forum.

Above all - please report back with your experience, so we can pass this information on to others.

for other people reading this it should be important to note that RO will not work on just any Windows 8 operating system, and you should double check if the system you're getting is x86 or x64. RO will simply not run on any other architecture because it is compiled for the x86 instruction set. Out of the top of my head I have no idea what Surface Pro is, but I know that RO will not run on Windows RT because winRT runs on arm.

Surface Pro is x86-64, and should run RO.

Surface RT is ARM and will not run RO (or any other windows application that doesn't come from the windows app store)
