No, from +4 to +7 the breaking chance will always exist. Afyer that just use HDs and ezpz

^ i asked the same question and this is what someone told me "allows for a double upgrade per try, you can get 2 successful enchants or 1 successful enchant. If you get 2 failures in that one try it breaks the shadow gear. This is what i was told so do not quote me, if anything someone correct me if im wrong please.

Each Ore you spend will give you 2 chances, 2 consecutive refinements. You will only fail( break/downgrade) if both them are fails. If 1 of these attempts are successfull your gear is upgraded.

the blacksmith should tell you whether it's on in the first dialogue that pops up.
