Introduction
This is a guide for Hybrid Ranger. This is not to show you how to level one, by how to prepare one for end game PVM use. I personally find this build is pretty good at farming places like Endless Tower, Malaya Dungeons, Biolab and Nidhoggur's Shadow, but it can do so much more.
This build does not require MVP cards, but I will mention them where they can be useful.
Stats (Base 175)
The following stats are tailor made to go with Perverse Demon Mask, they give a huge amount of flexibility with gear without messing too much with base damage.
Str: 36
Agi: 108
Vit: 72
Int: 12
Dex: 108
Luk: 126
Skill Tree
Hybrid Ranger Skill Tree (Job 60)
Equipment
Headgear
Suggested Cards: Dolomedes, Engkanto, Lord Knight, Marduk, Maya Purple
+12 ~ +14 Old Camouflage Bunny Hood [1]
For: Basic Attack
Alternatives: +12~+14 White Drooping Eddga Hat
There is nothing better in this slot for Basic Attack. I would recommend going Acute for enchanting as nothing else compares damage wise.
+9 Autumn Headband [1]
For: Arrow Storm
Alternatives: N/A
There is nothing better in this slot for Arrow Storm.
Gambler’s Seal+Heart Card in Mouth
For: Basic Attack
Alternatives: N/A
This is a great combination for damage and attack speed. I find that the splash damage is it's biggest pitfall, followed shortly by a lack of an extra headgear card slot. This item is essential as it stands if you want to use a Prism Rangers Scarf for Basic Attack.
Sunglasses/Glasses+Mob Scarf
For: Basic Attack, Arrow Storm
Alternatives: N/A
This is an awesome combination for both Basic Attack and Arrow Storm, with it being the best in slot choice for the latter. The ability to slot the middle headgear is great as well!
Weapon
Suggested Cards: Abysmal Knight, Randgris
+15 Crimson Bow [2]
For: Basic Attack, Arrow Storm
Alternatives: +9 Elven Bow [1] , +9 Gigantic Bow [1]
This is the single best bow for almost every generic situation. It is the best in slot for all aside from Demi Human for Basic Attack, and a very good substitute to the Big Crossbow for Arrow Storm.
+14 Glorious Hunter Bow
For: Basic Attack, Arrow Storm
Alternatives: N/A
This bow is the unbeaten behemoth for Demi Human targets. The only catch? Needs to be +14 to reach those heights. A Memory of Thanatos Carded Big Crossbow would need to hit a target with over 500 defense before it breaks even with this.
+12 ~ +14 Big Crossbow [2]
For: Arrow Storm
Alternatives: N/A
This is the single best bow for Arrow Storm with exception to Demi Human targets. It's provides about 12% more overall damage compared to a +15 Crimson Bow for Arrow Storm, hence why I more or less recommend ditching it in favor of that bow.
Armor
Suggested Cards: Amdarais, Angry Nine Tail, Evil Druid, Gloom Under Night, Ktullanux, Pasana, Restless Dead, Swordfish
+9~+12 White Wing Suit [1]
For: Basic Attack, Arrow Storm
Alternatives: N/A
This is a great armor to use and beats the likes of Flame Dragon Armor. It struggles to compete damage wise with the next two on the list when dealing with certain targets; however, when coupled with Gray Wing Boots it can be very hard to do away with all the fun perks. The card choices provided essentially are there for either survival or damage, but if there were one priority card, it would be Evil Druid due to it's overall handy qualities with PVM content.
+9 Abyss Dress
For: Basic Attack, Arrow Storm
A super powerful OCP charged armor that provides a huge damage boost on certain targets.
+9 Nature Dress
For: Basic Attack, Arrow Storm
A super powerful OCP charged armor that provides a huge damage boost on certain targets, though not as synchronizing as it’s cousin.
Garment
Suggested Cards: Cenere, Petal
+9 Fallen Angel Wings [1]
For: Basic Attack
Alternatives: +12 Giant Faceworm Skin [1], +9 Heroic Backpack [1], +12 Fallen Warrior Manteau [1]
A solid Basic Attack garment. Can be enchanted and carded to make up for pitfalls in your build. You will only really ever focus these two on either attack speed or critical damage.
+7 Prism Rangers Scarf
For: Basic Attack, Arrow Storm
Alternatives: +9 White Wing Manteau
This is a really amazing Arrow Storm garment. Because it reduces your No Limit cooldown by 3 minutes, it leaves only a 1 minute stand down period which means it can be used more often. I also mark this as an excellent Basic Attack garment for the same reason, however this would force you to use a Gambler's Set in order to make it for the huge loss in attack speed.
Footgear
Suggested Cards: Firelock Solider, Moonlight Flower, Vicious Cookie
+9 Temporal Luk Boots (AD4/Hawkeye)
For: Basic Attack
Alternatives: N/A
A great pair of boots for Basic Attack. You would only ever bother using these with an attack speed+hawkeye enchant, anything else is pointless. These boots will get even stronger with a slot added to them in the future. They also mean you are not bound by White Wing Suit, which means they can give some good additional damage where the OCP dresses apply. Never ever bother with a Temporal Ring as a hybrid ranger, the boost is just pointless compared to other options.
+7 Gray Wing Boots
For: Basic Attack, Arrow Storm
Alternatives: White Wing Boots [1]
I call these utility boots. Why? Because when coupled with a +9 White Wing Suit it offers survival opportunities alongside comparable damage to Temporal counterparts for a fraction of the price. The only downside is that it locks you into using the suit which means no super charged OCP dresses.
Accessory
Suggested Cards: Gold Scaraba, Owl Baron
Perverse Demon Mask [1]
For: Basic Attack, Arrow Storm
A must have item for this build. Let's you ignore the need for a Memory of Thanatos Card, and in almost all situations surpasses it.
Old Detachments Ring
For: Basic Attack
Alternatives: Bakonawa Tattoo, Luminous Blue Stone [1], Verus Core [1]
The perfect supporting accessory for the Perverse Demon Mask when using Basic Attack. When combined with the likes of the Old Camouflage Bunny headgear, it gives a huge boost to critical damage and chance.
Ring of Jupiter [1]
For: Arrow Storm
Alternatives: White Wing Brooch, Emerald Ring [1]
A more powerful version of the Emerald Ring and the perfect supporting accessory for the Perverse Demon Mask when using Arrow Storm. This item must be placed in the left slot, aka the opposite of the Perverse Demon Mask to gain the damaging effect.
Consumables
Stats
Though mostly unnecessary, things you may like to use could include Petite Tail Noodles, Siroma Icetea and VIP (All Stats + 7) or Miracle buffs (All Stats + 10).
Consumable Attack
You can use Poring Pretzel to provide 50 consumable attack to your damage. Also, when using Miracle buff, this will add 30 consumable attack as well.
Attack Speed
You can use Awakening Potion and Enrich Celermine Juice to boost your attack speed by 15 base % and 10 Aspd % respectively.
Elements
You will primarily use Elven Arrows and Silver Arrows as your ammunition of choice, but sometimes may opt to use elemental arrows with Prism Rangers Scarf to make use of the resistance boost it provides. In any case, you will want to have a healthy supply of Earth, Fire, Water and Wind elemental converters; as well as, some Cursed Water to tackle the various enemies in the game. You can also carry along with you a supply of Immaterial Arrows to fight ghost monsters.
There are also times where you may want to change the element of your warg; this can be achieved by using +7 Capricorn Crown, +7 Leo Crown, +7 Libra Diadem or +7 Scorpio Crown to activate mild wind. Doing so changes your status attack element which extends to your warg element. Though I would argue it isn't as important as it once was, you can do it for the hell of it if you have access to one of the aforementioned headgear. If you want to have the upmost damage towards ghost enemies, you can activate mild wind first, then using a +4 Pure White Marching Hat [1], can change your ammunition element to ghost for maximum offense.
Q&A
Why isn't Imperial or Seraphim set listed?
You could run an Imperial Set if you sacrificed some stats to bring your Agi up to 120, but ultimately it isn't worth it damage wise. Same reason for Seraphim, only to a much larger degree as Int is almost entirely useless as a hybrid ranger.
Why call this a hybrid build?
The idea is to allow to person to perform an almost min/max build for warg, while keeping a strong Arrow Storm set for packs and certain mvps. It basically allows you to tackle almost everything in the game by yourself or even contribute heavily to party play.
