Hi, so I recently decided to try IRO and wanted to be a Merchant (going to become an Alchemist in the future) and I was following this cart revolution build (https://irowiki.org/wiki/Merchant) but I wanted to ask if this is still legit or not? I'm not thinking about equipments just yet since I just started and most likely can't afford any of the high-end equipments.
Anyways if anyone has any tips for a new merchant, I would appreciate if anyone would share them to a rookie.
Thanks in advance.

Cart revo is just a temporarily skill and you shouldn't master it, and yes that guide is outdated. As a newbie, i would suggest to just get your cart weight to 8000 then put some DEX (you need to get higher HIT, missing atk is not effective way to level up) and use eden gears. Use nepeta cataria / fresh fish to recover HP.
You can use cart revo on Ant Hell (ant eggs), then later on.. outside Orc Dungeon and Sunken Ship where you can mob easily.

Looks like I'll need to re-spec my stats since I actually followed the guide. So if the guide is outdated, what should be my stats if I'm going Alchemist route? (I'm still debating on whether I can afford going Acid Bomb build or if I should go Cart Cannon or pure homunculus build). Thanks for replying to my question.

Is this your first char? I would suggest to create a blacksmith to loot items from Gramps TI using Greed skill to gain zeny. As a alchemist, you will spend alot of zeny since you need to buy Acid Bottles so that you can use Acid Terror when levelling (preferably use acid terror on Dark Priest in GH church up to level 99 starting from level 83).
Also, homun is costly since you need to spend seed of life every 30 minutes spawn unless you can save up by letting your homun die before the timer ends and then resurrect it back without spending anything. (i would suggest to get amistr or vanimilth)
But anyway, no you don't have to worry if you already followed the stats from that cart revo guide. You can slowly add up DEX and STR to your build.
Levelling alchemist and biochemist is pain. But eventually, when you already reached geneticist, you can simply use Cart Cannon skill which is helpful later (It's uses STR + INT build)

Yes this is my first character in IRO. I did play another Ragnarok server years ago and was able to become an Alchemist but I believe that the server made extremely easy for one to become one because I don't remember having that hard of a time getting those Acid Bombs.
So ok I decided to go Blacksmith then, so what are the builds available? I'm not sure if I can go pure forge, so is there a way to be a damage dealer and be able to forge what I can until I reach Mechanic?

Unfortunately, forging is dead in this game so I wouldn't bother with it unless you want to do it for fun. You can buy/find superior gear cheaper/easier than forging it.
The primary builds are... Cart Revo until 3rd job: Mechanic. Then, you can go either Axe Tornado (STR+VIT) or Madogear Arm Canon (STR+DEX) to continue on to 4th job: Meister!

As sad as forging being dead is, I'm not exactly surprised, guess I'll cart or AGI build for the Merchant and Blacksmith until I reach Mechanic. Though quick question, I get that making equipment is not a good idea but what about making things like Elemental Stones, Iron and Upgrading Equipment? I thought they can be used to make some Zenny but should I also ignore those skills too and just purely focus on offensive skills?

Genetics creation now worth value by selling Red/Blue Herb Activator and some concentrated red/yellow potions (and the +20 stats food)
Blacksmith's forging is now a joke unless you are playing in classic server. Create elemental stones? you can buy directly from Battlegrounds (Sorcerer supply)
Now mechanic just focus on offensive skills.

Roger that. This actually makes me less worried since I don't have to worry about crafting and focus on just playing as a class I like to play. Thanks again for replying.

FYI - Cart Revolution ignore the HIT check, adding DEX as a main stat will do nothing to your merchant, in terms of leveling you will be better off using STR/AGI/VIT as main stats
