Can we just talk about Eden Group for a moment because... wow. It is absolutely insane. You can't walk, you can't even see NPCs, especially since people hax past the 4 square rule a lot of the time.

I've been playing RO a long time so of course despite my annoyances I can still navigate Eden fine, HOWEVER... I tend to rope a lot of new players into playing RO with me, and I also have a soft spot for helping polite newbies in-game. Eden group & its quests are a perfect place for beginners to get a head start in the RO world! But you would not believe how many new players I have brought into the group who found themselves literally unable to move, much less find the billboard or NPC I am trying to point out. I kind of end up apologizing from second-hand embarrassment due to the game being so hard to navigate when it really shouldn't be. It is incredibly overwhelming for new players and I wouldn't be surprised if it ultimately turned them away from the game entirely, and really, new players are what keep MMOs healthy, and a game that refuses to be friendly towards them is only hurting itself.

Not to mention even for oldbies Eden is just a huge eyesore. Ugh.

The decision to block shops was a step in the right direction, but now chats have replaced it, making it no better than it was before. While I understand Eden is a perfect place to advertise since it can be accessed from many locations, it's also the place with a lot of important quests and NPCs that need to be easily accessed, especially by new players. I suppose my simple proposal is to also ban chats in the first floor of Eden to help clear the place out. If theres another way to rearrange NPCs in a different accessable location, that would work too, but I feel banning chats is the easiest way to solve this problem.

^Obviously the biggest problem I see with this is it'd make recruiting for parties even more difficult, forcing recruiting to take place in other locations or in the case of TIs, possibly inside the TI map itself, but I still feel like it's a better solution in the long rong (especially since recruiting with this many chats is near impossible anyway).

Also another new-player killer: SPAMBOTs. Oh my god the spambots I wish the GMs could hire somebody specifically in charge of bot control because it's out of control, and now that its all on one server I feel as though it should be easier to take care of... but I guess that's getting off topic here.

tl;dr: PLEASE do something about the chaos that is Eden! Thank you!

Ever heard of the RO Client's Nospam feature? Adjust it correctly and you'll never see spam from the spam bots ever again.

The other main problem is not the number of chats themselves, but rather the chats that bypass the NPC "No Chat" zones, which happens to be a 7x7 area around them. People are constantly breaking the rules to set their "Buying/Selling/Guild Recruiting" Chats right next to or within the range of an NPC's "No Chat" zone by abusing a bug to do it.

What about using the room on the second (?) floor with all the beds? No one ever seems to use it. Why not use that room and make it like a first come first served basis, or try using other rooms in eden that don't have frequently used NPCs?

What if the NPCs on the second floor were moved to the back room, and Gramps was moved upstairs? That would leave only the first floor for the Newbie Quest boards and actual Eden content. It would utilize a lot of the unused space, and help separate the Gramps+Eden NPC crowding issue.

Quoted from a similar thread in the main forum.

Today i entered to Eden in a hurry, people were putting chats over NPCs... that tick me off since I wanted to pick the free buffs. I can't believe I will say this but move gramps to the back room or disable chats... something has to move out of there!!!

Yep my wife couldnt find anything in there and i had to guide her to every single NPC. Even if you can disable chats with f12 the new players arent aware of this.

would be nice if it wouldnt block off my own chats I have. removing the notepad I made for it made me chat again.

another problem. WHY THE HECK silence the spambots instead of just removing them from the screen. everytime I see a spambot with that nice red balloon above their head makes me facepalm

Because it's harder for them to recognize that they have been perma-muted. Them not knowing that they have been muted means it'll take them longer to replace them.

Ugh, all those people. It took me forever to find a certain NPC in Eden because of all the people milling about them, it's a real pain, and I'd rather not have to battle through the chaos just to pick up and hand in NPC quests.
