My main question is this: Merchant classes are, in the end, made for selling. So my question is are all these players with their merchants up really just sitting there doing nothing for 5-6 hours a day? Or is there some way to have your merchant's shop open while you play around on another character. I only ask because it seems like if its the prior scenario, I don't see how someone could literally just sit there for hours on end, unless they just dedicate specific days to leave their shops up while they are away from their computer. But if that's really how it works, then that's what I'll do. I just want to make sure i'm not missing something before I start my new character. So any feedback on this subject would be very appreciated.

You can't play other chars on same account while vending.

People often have more than one account, and a merchant is the first thing most people make on their alt accounts. Usually these merchants don't get leveled past 30 or so, and are just used for selling. I vend on up to 5 accounts at once, personally.

You vend on your main account only when you would otherwise not be playing RO anyway (ie, when you're in class, or asleep, or at work, or out with friends, etc)

Also - once you get to third job, your statement that merchant classes are made for selling is entirely inaccurate. The fact that they can vend while you're AFK is just an afterthought by that point. Genetic in particular is a real powerhouse class.

Thank you for the information, So you would in theory have an alt account for your merch and you would just trade items/zeny between that and your main account?

Also, good to know about the 3rd class for merchants being a strong class. The last time I was on Ragnarok was 6 years ago, so 3rd classes didn't even exist then. Thanks for the insight.
