It's clear from the comments on the forums that there are adverse latency conditions occurring during WoE. To keep things focused, I have set up this page for us to gather incident information and help us to get clear information on the when and where the latency issues are arising.

We will be adding server hardware to balance the server load this next week, and have been monitoring the server settings during several WoEs so far without detecting hardware issues. We have definitely been seeing the latency, and have received reports from players from around the world indicating that there are issues so we continue to investigate. We have had very large battles on WoE before without the problems that have been occurring after the merger happen, so while I will ask for the standard tracerts we are also looking for outside and programming causes of latency.

While WoE is going on, if you can find a free moment, please open up a command prompt (it's in your start menu under accessories) and type in tracert playragnarok.com which will bring up a tracert report that looks like this:

When you have the time, right click on the window and copy+paste the information into a reply to this thread (please do XXX out the first hops in the report for your privacy) and note your ISP. User connections to the server, or our server's connections to other servers may not be the problem at all, but it would be best to cover our bases so we can go to kRO and our ISP with good reports on what's wrong. Taken within the last 10 mins of woe~ noticed major lag spikes as the multiple guilds attacking started fighting, not when they entered.

For those that's posting tracert here, make sure to edit out your first hop since that shows your IP.

ie.

Edit: Both realms were horrible depending on how many were there. I did mine during the whole WoE at random times in both realms some with and some without the delay.

Edit2: Dunno why our IP being there matters or not, I don't really care. But there...gone.

i took some whenever i felt a lag coming. Also i got some during recalls. Those were horrible. Couldn't do anything.

Hop #6 always times out when doing ANY tracert.



Doesn't mean anything. The reason it times out is the serer is set up to ignore the ICMP request coming in from the tracert client. It's the same as #s 4 and 5 in your case, those servers are set up without DNS resolving so you only see the IP address.

Yeah part of my lag felt like it was from my end. Though that's a bit odd since I hardly ever lag when at home. But there was some of the character-not-responding type of lag. Snap into a group and push CC about 10 times before anything happens. >_>

But overall pretty big improvement from previous woes I think.
