Hello all!

I'm an extreme oldbie, but I've been out of the game a long time and have basically no equips. I'm currently at base 78 and I'm built as a battle forger (dex, str, vit, luk,) but in trans I want to go pure forge, with Madogear as an afterthought. (Yes, yes, I know, forge/brew on the primary doesn't work, I have other chars that I'm going to build up soon.) A few questions:

Can I reset skills (I have a Neuralizer) and stats as a Mastersmith? If so, should I start out with battle high merc/smith? Is it worth resetting now as BS for the 21 levels I have to go?

What's the best equipment for forging and leveling? I used to forge/refine with an AoA, welding mask (it was rumored to help success chance,) and dex clothes/shoes/accessories that I can't remember now.

Is any decent Mado build available building up from a pure forge smith? If not, what should I do with my Mechanic skills?

Thanks everyone!

I wouldn't bother with forging if I were you. They haven't updated the forging system in years. The weapons you can make by forging are not very viable anymore.

The Mastersmith skill "Upgrade Weapon" on the other hand is quite useful, especially if you want to gain Safe to +7 Weapon Certificates. But the downside is, you'll have to stay a job level 70 Mastersmith, otherwise the skill will not have any advantage over the standard upgrade NPCs except for not having to pay a fee.

I recommend you stick to a 'pure' battle 'build' if you want to become a mechanic. Forging and upgrading skills are very stat and job level dependent.

Thanks, I suppose that shows how old I am: when I left, forging was a good career.

Maybe if they update forging in the next few years I can reset. Since I'm hybrid now, should I reset immediately and go battle to lv99?

The more I think about it, the more I think I wanna add an Alky... my original idea, back in beta before 2-1 and 2-2 were fleshed out by Grav, was to brew.

You'll soon notice that alot of things have changed, including how stats translate to substats and how defense, magic defense, (physical) attack, magical attack and cast time works.

Maybe if they update forging in the next few years I can reset.

That would be nice, but don't count on it.

If you're still a blacksmith then there's no use in resetting your stats and skills so close to level 99. Once you reach level 99, you can transcend and start redistributing your stats and skills.

Alky...Alchemist.

That's more viable, yes. But don't expect to make it in the top ten rank since those are occupied by 'guild backed' biochemists/geneticists.

I won't. (: Maybe it'll roll around in a decade.

Thanks again. Any suggestions for leveling equips for the battlesmith?

For a blacksmith?

Just get the Eden Equipment set(s), most of the 'good stuff' can only be worn once you've transcended or once you reach your 3rd job.

For a mastersmith?
Powerful weapon: Posted Image Giant Axe [1] (expensive)
Most powerful weapon (overall): Posted Image Hurricane Fury [1] (very expensive, but the best)

Armor:
Posted Image Bone Plate [1] (very cheap, but still quite useful)
Posted Image Meteo Plate Armor [1] (cheap, use it when you need the status resistance)
Posted Image Diabolus Armor [1] (expensive)
Posted Image Valkyrian Armor [1] (very expensive, not 'that good' once you have stun resistance)

Garment:
Posted Image Nidhoggur's Shadow Garb [1] (expensive and quite good, especially if you need the elemental resistance).
Posted Image Heroic Backpack [1] (very expensive, quite good to increase your damage and decrease the neutral damage you take).

Shoes:
Posted Image Valkyrian Shoes [1] (Cheap, use it if you need the empty slot).
Posted Image Tidal Shoes [1] (Cheap, use it if you need the empty slot, the water resistance is nice too).
Posted Image Sprint Shoes [1] (Cheap, use it if you need the empty slot).
Posted Image Diabolus Boots [1] (Expensive, don't bother unless you're wearing a diabolus manteau and you need the empty slot).
Posted Image Variant Shoes (expensive, these shoes are quite good, most job characters use these as their default/final shoes).

Accessories:
Where do I start...anyone want to chime in?
Posted Image Medal of Honor (Merchant) + Posted Image Glorious Ring (If you don't need the empty slot(s)).

Note: Once you get your MadoGear skills and start using them, alot of things will change. So you might not want to spend too much on certain pieces of equipment.

They have replaced forgers with cash shop items. I'd recommend making a Genetic. It's the best MVP class in game.
