Try changing your DNS servers in case the DNS resolution failure you experienced before was just a fluke.

If you're experiencing this problem, then do the following:

  • Open Command Prompt.
  • Enter "nslookup playragnarok.com" and then press enter.
  • If an error message is output, then go to the next step. Otherwise, repeat the previous step several times (press up and then enter to quickly repeat the last command).

If no error messages are output, then the cause of your problem isn't related to DNS and you should therefore create a new thread in which to seek help.
  • Configure your router to use Google Public DNS. (Follow the instructions for changing your router's DNS settings, not the instructions for changing Windows's DNS settings.)

Who do you trust more — someone being paid minimum wage to follow a script, or the fellow players who have already confirmed that switching from Comcast's DNS servers solved the problem?

IPv6 is 2001:4860:4860::8888 2001:4860:4860::8844

IPv4 didnt work for but IPv6 did.

Oh, I see. Unfortunately, that doesn't help because RO uses IPv4. :(

I suggest that you bypass the updater for now, and hopefully whatever broken server is causing your problem will be fixed within a few days.

To bypass the updater:

  • Navigate to the client folder in Windows Explorer.
  • Right-click the file Ragexe.exe and then choose "send to", "desktop (create shortcut)".
  • Right-click the shortcut that you have just created on your desktop, and then choose "properties".
  • Append the text " 1rag1" (including the space) to the value of the "target" field. The modified text should closely resemble the following:

    "C:\Program Files (x86)\Gravity\Ragnarok Online\Ragexe.exe" 1rag1
  • Press "OK".

You can now directly open the client using the new shortcut. Be warned that you won't be able to indefinitely use the client in this manner because you will eventually encounter errors due to missing updates.

Hello... I'm also a Comcast user and have been experiencing the same issue since last night...

I have typed nslookup playragnarok.com in cmd
and the result is:

Server: cdns01.comcast.net
Address:75.75.75.75

*** cdsn01.comcast.net can't find playragnarok.com: Server failed

So...anyone can tell me what should I do now T_T
Will the problem get solved if I do the Google thing??
*I'm a computer dummy...

Thanks for reply :sob:

Read this page: https://developers.g...-dns/docs/using

Well I use Windows so basically i just read and follow the passage below:

Microsoft Windows

DNS settings are specified in the TCP/IP Properties window for the selected network connection.

Example: Changing DNS server settings on Microsoft Windows 7
  • Go the Control Panel.
  • Click Network and Internet, then Network and Sharing Center, and click Change adapter settings.
  • Select the connection for which you want to configure Google Public DNS. For example:If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
    • To change the settings for an Ethernet connection, right-click Local Area Connection, and click Properties.
    • To change the settings for a wireless connection, right-click Wireless Network Connection, and click Properties.
  • Select the Networking tab. Under This connection uses the following items, select Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) or Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6) and then click Properties.
  • Click Advanced and select the DNS tab. If there are any DNS server IP addresses listed there, write them down for future reference, and remove them from this window.
  • Click OK.
  • Select Use the following DNS server addresses. If there are any IP addresses listed in the Preferred DNS server or Alternate DNS server, write them down for future reference.
  • Replace those addresses with the IP addresses of the Google DNS servers:
    • For IPv4: 8.8.8.8 and/or 8.8.4.4.
    • For IPv6: 2001:4860:4860::8888 and/or 2001:4860:4860::8844
  • Restart the connection you selected in step 3.
  • Test that your setup is working correctly; see Testing your new settings below.
  • Repeat the procedure for additional network connections you want to change.

For several months now there has been a fault with Comcast's DNS servers that has prevented them from reliably resolving the addresses of Gravity's domain names, including the two used by the update servers. Comcast won't fix their DNS servers because they believe the fault lies with Gravity, despite the fact that switching to using Google's public DNS servers entirely solves the problem.
