Hello all! As the title vaguely says, I'm pretty new around here, and to RO in general, really.
Right now I'm in the process of installing the client, and then I'll be starting straight off. But since I know next to nothing — and have been around MMOs enough to know it's always better to be safe than sorry — I thought I'd ask one or two questions.

First off, what would be the best class to start off with? And by 'best' I mean just to get a bearing on what I'll be dealing with in RO, as well as generate some cash along the way to better situate myself.

Secondly, is RO like some other MMOs in that you can fatally screw a character's build by not keeping to a strict distribution? I remember reading somewhere that RO had allocated points like some other games, but I wasn't sure if I would be needing to find some sort of guide to make sure I don't end up being 30 levels down the line with a completely messed up character.

EDIT: Also! I thought it might be useful to mention that I'll normally be playing solo.

Play a ranger in chaos server, it one of the most newbie friendly class.

And in RO stat build + skill build will be the foundation of you being successful or not. Failure to have a good stat and skill build will leave you with a semi-useless character.

Thank you! I'm trying to look for some kind of information on Rangers right now, but everything I find is either incomprehensible, or incredibly non-newb friendly... But I'm sure I'll find something eventually.

remember to use www.irowiki.com as a resource. I would recommend reading up on irowiki or going to the forum's ranger guides on suggested builds. The basic character progression is:
novice -> archer->hunter -> trans-> high novice -> high archer -> sniper -> ranger.

Remeber that the skill arrow shower is your best leveling skill until you get to ranger .

www.ragial.com also gives a great view of the vend shops.

one thing to note is that while you can screw up a build early, you get to rebirth at 99 and get sort of a restart, so anything till then is not permenant
