There is unlikely to be a free alternative - running the proxy servers required to provide a service like lowerping costs money.

A while ago I was toying with the idea of running "azzyping", using plink/Widecap to handle the plumbing and a proxy server located in the cloud to handle the connections. But of course, it wouldn't be free (though I'm sure I could undercut lowerping).

Lower Ping beta has come to an end. Is there any other free Anti-Crash programs?

I gotta say, I am just tired of these bandaids.

Lowerping
/effects
WTFast
etc.

After almost 10 years... it is the worst it has been in my memory. That just makes no sense. You would think it would get better after a decade, not worse.

This is not my solution, but I have tested it on my computers and my friends computers and it solves the lag problem. No programmes, downloads and other crap needed. Also it was found somewhere on this forum.

[...]

Let's hope that it ll help other players. For me it has solved my
problem for now. And i would sudgest you to report this to the devs of
this game because they should get rid of this issue by allowing the
game server to send to the client certain information even if the
previous transmission hasn't been aknowledged yet."

this helped me a lot, my ping is the same but the reaction time in-game has improved greatly, I suggest people to try it, you can always delete the two d-words later if you are not satisfied with the result.

Alright guys this is related to the LowerPing program from the Original Poster(first page, first post)

So I installed this LowerPing Program. After that, I uninstalled WTFast. I restarted my computer after that since they both told me to. After that, I've been getting memory errors. So I did a restore point on my computer. That fixed the memory problem. I deleted the LowerPing folder since there was no installed program entry on it. Big mistake, my internet kept connecting to that weird "169" address, which was entirely different than my other one. So entered one of these commands in command prompt:

netsh interface ip delete arpcache (clears Address Resolution Protocol (ARP) cache)
nbtstat -R (flushes the NetBIOS cache)
ipconfig /flushdns (flushes DNS cache)
netsh winsock reset catalog (clears netbt, may require restart)

Restarted my computer, and it's fixed! Note I use a third party program due to this type of internet adapter I have (Netgear WN311B) in order to connect to the internet.

My question is...is it a suspicious program(lowerping)? WTFast never caused this much trouble for me when I installed it!

This is not my solution, but I have tested it on my computers and my friends computers and it solves the lag problem. No programmes, downloads and other crap needed. Also it was found somewhere on this forum.

"So here is the reason :

This is caused by a TCP/IP feature used in windows by default known as
the Nagle Algorithm. This feature allows windows to delay the
transmission of TCP packets in order to save bandwidth by grouping
packets into a single transmission. This can cause the aknowledgment
of a TCP transmission to be delayed by up to 200 ms, by default. And
in RO, the game server does not send the client certain information
(such as movement of monsters or players) untill the previous
transmission has been aknowledged by your client. This is why some
people outside NA are experiencing such a HUGE lag despite a normal
latency score.

So here is the solution :

From a command prompt (usually in All Programs -> Accessories ->
Command Prompt) run "regedit"
Browse to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\
CurrentControlSet\services\Tcpip\Parameters\Interfaces
Browse the items under interfaces until you find one that has an
IPAddress entry matching the network interface you want to affect
(typically LAN IP addresses start with 192.168 or 10.0); note that if
your IP address is automatically assigned by a DHCP server you may
need to look for a matching DhcpIPAddress instead of IPAddress
Right-click on the interface and select New > DWORD (32-bit)
Value, name it "TcpAckFrequency"
Right-click the new TcpAckFrequency value and select Modify, enter
"1" (Hexadecimal radio button should be selected)
Right-click on the interface and select New > DWORD (32-bit)
Value, name it "TCPNoDelay" (note that TCP is all uppercase this time
that's intentional)
Right-click the new TCPNoDelay value and select Modify, enter 1
(Hexadecimal radio button should be selected)
Verify that both TcpAckFrequency and TCPNoDelay now show up in the
adapter's property list with types "REG_DWORD" and values "0x00000001"
Exit regedit and reboot (reboot is necessary for the changes to
take effect!)

Let's hope that it ll help other players. For me it has solved my
problem for now. And i would sudgest you to report this to the devs of
this game because they should get rid of this issue by allowing the
game server to send to the client certain information even if the
previous transmission hasn't been aknowledged yet."

i did this n my ro now run perfectly fine, no lag no spike no hard feeling anymore.. run like racer car..

this is amazing,, mybe GM team could look into this one ?

thanks b4 for sharing bro  :thx:

You could just minimize the visuals for a better performance, play it in "administrator mode".
