Use aid potion, if it heals double it works fine.

I was trying to make pots and it won't even cast. All three are in the party obviously...

You're probably missing something. Linked potting behaves really oddly, I remember I was always fumbling around trying to figure out what I was missing back when I was a ranker. I'm almost certain it works for genetic.
