Hello and heads up everyone!

I know this is shorter notice than most have been recently, but better than a surprise maintenance on the hour.

So we're planning to perform a slightly earlier maintenance than usual, tomorrow (Thursday, the 14th of March) to implement the Game Arena changes to how the timer works.

More details will be posted during the maintenance. The downtime may be slightly extended because of the changes being implemented. But we will be working to implement the feature update as quickly as possible.

Patch Notes v461(462) - March 14, 2013

Game Arena Update
After a lot of discussion and reviewing feedback from the community on the hindrances of the timer system and keeping in line with our intended design goals behind the system, birth has been given to the "Energy Bar." More details about this new implementation is explained below in the section "The Game Arena Energy Bar and You."

The "Game Arena Timer Reset" item has evolved as well to the "Game Arena Energy Reset". The item will now replenish the Game Arena Energy Bar to full (i.e. to 10,000 Energy).

Also, the "Waiting For Dungeons..." and "Waiting For PvP..." timer restrictions have been removed from all game modes.

Future enhancement plan for the Game Arena
  • One of the next enhancements we are working towards is a way to see how many are already part of a queue, without having to join it. This is so that you can see the current activity of a queue to help decide if you wish to join it or not.
The Game Arena Energy Bar and you
Fun facts:
  • Energy regenerates at a constant rate regardless of activity.
    (For example: while you are logged in, playing in the Game Arena or even when you are logged out!)
  • Energy regenerates at a rate of 4,000 Energy per hour.
  • Maximum Energy is set to 10,000 Energy.
  • Energy is used based on the entry cost specified in the Game Arena window as soon as the player enters the game they have queued up for.
    (Energy is not used to queue.)
  • Premium Account players will notice that they do not have an energy cost when entering Game Arena modes.

Holy cow, we almost forgot! Its March Madness month and almost forgot about our Monster Madness box!

The Monster Madness Box

Bug Fixes
  • The Traditional Chinese Handwraps and Shoe icons have been corrected.

  • All the Raijin, Tenjin and Kojin costumes pieces are no longer account bound and free to trade, as they are not new costume pieces.
  • (v462) A minor bug was caught and fixed before it became an issue from this update.
  • March 18, 2013 - Server was restarted with a fix to the issue of Game Arena Energy being double consumed at approximately 3:00PM (-8:00 UTC)

So if I get this right.... The timer was set to once per hour, and now still is once per hour for GA (Dungeons). Since it costs 7000 points, and after you've finished it, you will have to wait 1 hour to get 10.000-7000 = 3000 + 4000 = 7000 again? Then repeat this process over and over. Or am I just plain stupid? No improvement there for higher levels.

i feel sorry for the ones who haven't sold their Candle Ghost set for high price.

Anyhoo. OH YES. ENERGY BAR FTW!! I wanna try Draconis Peaks so bad :x

i know the "naruto-ish" costumes are old, but please refrain from putting them back as "account bound" only to lift that restriction a maintenance after because they are old costume sets. i mean, newer people tried their best spinning for those costumes thinking they are worth it even though they are "account bound" then just end up seeing that their restrictions are going to get lifter a week or so after. i cant explain it really well but, it kinda feels like a rip-off. i personally dont feel that way but, they might. i know for sure i will hear it from someone new from our clan later :)

im curious about this as well, why does it cost so much more to enter dungeons than the pvp arenas. the sea of dawn for max lvl is exactly the same as it was before this update, still having to wait 1 hour.

actually all dungeons for max lvl are the same... still having 1 hour wait

the PvP system is nice:

2 games in a row then +4000 regeneration while GA; makes 3 GAs in a row then a longer break and you can do it again =) AND the cooldown reset from the Itemmall is now worth it not like before - 1 reset = 3 GAs as you see

So we would really have to wait about 2 hrs each run instead of a bit more than an hour, depending on how fast you run the dungeon. I can see SoD benefiting since it takes longer to run and energy regens during the run, and maybe HoO, but not CoU. But, thanks for the patch! :)

7,000 for 1 dungeon? and 4,000 points regenrated per hour? That means you can only do 1 dungeon every 1h40 minutes! It's even worst than before! And 4,000 per crystal defenders... and 4,000 per hour, means 1 CD per hour. And is there AT LEAST an energy bar for PvP and another one for dungeon???? I don't know if I like it or not.... I don't if it's how I explained it.

Basically, what I do with my level 230 chars by the time the timer was implemented is to do a dungeon then switch to other char. With 3 chars, it's like unlimited dungeons already.

Some dungeons can be done with only Legendary/Reinforced gear so no problemo for me.

Oh and the timer design is sexy btw. Great Job!

And I can sense a disturbance in the force - again. I guess 5K GA points is good enough for dungeons. IMO, 7k for PVM is too high compared to 4k for PVP.

Well, its a little more understandable with the pvm then it is with the pvp. You're getting items directly from the dungeons(on top of valor), pvp you still have to do *at least* 10 games to get something like a max level honor weapon.. the PVM dungeons have a faster effect on the economy(This is obviously not accounting for you switching to other chars..which, as stated in the post above, is a possibility). And please don't tell me I'm saying this because I'm a PVPer, because I have plenty of people who will vouch for me when I say I do both.

At least with people who strictly do PVM, you could do a dungeon--then go farm elsewhere(well.. as far as farming will get you anyways). For some pvpers, the only pvp they get is from CD.
