alright so from the daily quen guy a while ago i happen to have a decent amount of enrich or/HD ori now my question is from +4 - +6 would i need safe to 7? and from +6-7 will my HD/Enriched take effect and not break weap?

I generally use safe to +7 all the way to +7 if it is an important item or a level 4 weapon. And for the HD/Enriched matter, HD Ori only works for +7-+9, so using enriched Ori to make it +7 but not on Enriched hammer as he requires the item to be +7 at the least. I hope this made sense.

If you use an enriched ore to go from 6 to 7, there's no guarantee your item will not break. You still need a cert for that

The decision of whether to use normal elu with break chance, enriched elu with break chance, or safe 7 cert for +4->7 depends on the relative values of elu, enriched elu, safe certs, and the item you're upgrading. I'm a bit confused since I haven't used used HD or Enriched in such a long time.

HD is the one that allows you to garuntee no break and still go below 7 as long as you stay in dialogue?

Or is that Enriched? I mean the Hammer guy says ENRICHED, but people keep saying HD ores....@_@

If you use enriched hammer (with enriched ores and enriched rates) or mighty hammer (HD ore, normal rates), it degrades when you fail and you can keep using it as long as you stay in dialog. Both of these require it to be +7 to start.

You can also use enriched with break chance by talking to sunhimi or w/e his name is, this can be done at any refine rate.

And in that case the one currently in eden is the Enriched, not the HD hammer correct?

There are two NPCs in Eden - one is Enriched Hammer who hangs out near where Boxter is. He takes enriched ores. The other is Mighty Hammer, who stands along the wall near the entrance to the small room in the north corner, and he takes HD ores.

So what's the difference on rates for each? Or are they the same?

HD ores supposedly have the same success rates as normal upgrading - e.g. for armor, it's something like 60% from 4 to 5, 40% from 5 to 6 and 6 to 7, 20% from 7 to 8 and 8 to 9, 10% to +10.

Using enriched ores with Enriched Hammer supposedly has 1.5x the success rates as normal upgrading - so for armor it becomes 90% from 4 to 5, 60% from 5 to 6 and 6 to 7, and 30% from 7 to 8 and 8 to 9. He stops at 9, however, so you're stuck praying on normal upgrade chances from 9 to 10 no matter what, at least on armor (I think you can still get an extra 10% chance for weapons from 9 to 10 using Weapon Upgrade on a smith, but the weapons will break on a failed upgrade).
