Me, my roommate, and my girl friend all signed up for the open beta of RO2. However it didn't give any options to pick gender when creating an account and now my girl friend's account is set as male, even though there is no way to change it in the edit section.

I know the first RO made it where you could only play the gender you were registered as. Any way to fix this for her or does that not matter in RO2?

Was also somewhat curious on that piece of information. Thanks from me as well.

I'm also worried about it. I don't want to play on a male account >_>
Hope they'll allow us to change it, since it was their mistake not to put the option.

I sent in a ticket regarding this issue. It just bugs me that there wasn't an option for gender choices when you signed up, so they just automatically group us into male. It's like hello, females exist!
Anyways here is their response...

Greetings Valued Customer,

Thank you for contacting WarpPortal Customer Support.

We understand you're frustration on choosing genders for your characters in RO2. With regards on your concern, we would like to inform you that it is not necessary to change the gender of you account since your WarpPortal account would not reflect the gender of your created characters on RO2. Thus, you can choose on whatever gender you might like for your characters in the game. However, if you really want to change the gender of your WarpPortal account, we must warn you that changing of account gender is complicated and may take time for us process. We will need personal documents and other information that could help verify the identity of the account's owner.

If you have questions, please don’t hesitate to send us another ticket.

Regards,

That's one complicated process to change gender, which wasn't an option given in the first place. Kinda unfair huh?

Regarding the response that you were given. It's not only unfair but seemingly unethical.

How would that guarantee that your personal documents will not be confiscated and used for identity fraud? Is there a promise or guarantee that our information will not be misused in any way shape or form?

Also, if it is not necessary to change gender, then why include the option in the first place? If you cannot actively change something, then it simply has no business being there.

That is just silly. I don't know why it didn't give us the option to choose female to begin with. I hate that it says I'm a male.

@SaphiraRaworth

They aren't talking about in-game. They are talking about the account itself on warpportal. It has been fixed now, but at the time (yesterday) when people signed up it had no gender option and assigned everyone to be a male.

I know this post is a few days old, but I just wanted to say that this is still a problem, at least it was when I registered just now. Even if they don't require any documentation to change the account's gender today (I doubt their policy will have changed much in the last week), it is unacceptable that they simply assume all new accounts will be male, especially for a game like Ragnarok Online with such a large female player base.

I'd have my account suspended, since WarpPortal refuses to delete accounts, but in order to do that or even submit a ticket for the gender change I have to provide a phone number for the support forums? I don't think that's acceptable either. If I don't have to provide a piece of information at signup (full name, for example), then I feel it's a violation of my privacy to ask for more information later just to fix the company's mistake in the signup process.

This whole experience has left me absolutely disappointed, and I will not be playing any WarpPortal game or recommending WarpPortal to anyone that I know.
