seriously this class sounds so complex. from reading the skills, it sounds like you are unable to use any of your abilitys 90% of the time. do they really only allow spells to be used on 1 map?! i love the taekwon/soul linker classes and have been meaning to try this one out, but im not sure if its worth job changing for or not if im not even going to be able to enjoy the benefits. can someone please lay the basics of this class out for me? there are like 5 million ninja guides in this forum (which is funny because now theyre a useless cripple of a class) but not a single taekwon guide

My knowledge about them is pretty limited and mainly comes from pre-RE MvP farming that me and my guild used to do, but I'll share it anyways. The only TKM build I know of is the Heat build in the pre-renewal days. Don't really know what works for them now considering the exp penalty system that would force them to move their map alignments every few levels or lest get gimped exp. Every map that the TKM levels in has to be designated with a certain "alignment" that allows them to use certain skills when that alignment "activates", Solar alignment during even days, Lunar on odd and Stellar during every 5 days. Once a map is aligned as such, it cannot be changed other than a very very very very tedious process. Did I mention it's very tedious?

Anyway, for the Heat build, like its namesake revolves around the Solar, Lunar, Stellar Heat skill. This is basically a Fire Wall-esque skill (complete with the knockback and all) that surrounds your char, with your char in the middle of the "box". It deals damage based on your attack and can be endowed with Mild Wind. Here comes the fun part: the Heat skill actually delivers 10 atks/sec (used to be 50 a long time ago but meh) but, thanks to the knockback, this is unnoticeable on normal monsters but does wonders on boss-protocol monsters who CAN'T be knockback'd. This made TKM's almost unmatched in terms of Boss-killing as they could take down most MvP's with little outside help hence most of the videos that came from that era depicts them leeching/leveling from places like Thors and Odins among others where non-knockable mobs were aplenty.

Basically, aside from Heat, these skills were what they'd usually get:
S/L/S Perception
S/L/S Opposition
S/L/S Wrath
S/L/S Courier
S/L/S Blessing
Solar Protection
S/L/S Union
(pretty much all of the skill tree lol, they have a ton of skillpoints they don't know what to do with anyway)

Back in those days, people usually aligned Thors as Stellar, done by warping there, using S/L/S Perception then selecting Stellar. Generally, once a map is aligned, you target the boss-protocol monster with the respective Wrath skill that matches the map alignment then activating the other skills like Courier (allows you to bring tons of White pots), Protection and Blessings(yay exp!). The usual step-by-step process of owning a Boss once you see one is as follows: Activate Heat -> Flying Kick towards boss -> Pot for your freaking life -> let Heat do its job. Rinse and repeat.

For Renewal leveling, only thing I can think of is getting leeched or just take a Kicker build (TK's skills) until you get Heat and get in range of Galions and level there, yeah not much options.

wow sounds like theyre pretty worthless then at this point. Ive seen high lvls doing massive dmg aoe kicks in parties, but ive never ever once seen someone use the star gladiator spells and now i know why. even if you assigned TI, they change the maps, so the next week youd be unable to use your abilities. this class sounds insanely flawed and in need of a revamp =o

Obviously you need to know which maps you'll be saving into BEFORE even making them. For instance, if you save the Morroc Field as a Place of the Stars, you could instantly kill Morroc Ghosts since they are boss and won't pushback. They'll take damage at 193 aspd.

but the problem is then that ill only be able to kill on that ONE map and on certain days (from what ive gathered from the posts above). that doesnt sound very enjoyable at all........ =o

There's ways to set off "miracle" that are pretty easy and allow you to heat on any map as long as you don't leave for an hour at a time and generally reprocs during that time.

Taekwon Master way too gimmicky. They were alright in the pre-renewal days, but now... meh.

They would be alot better if they could freely change their maps and targets.

The two above posts are the nail to the coffin on this thread. The only flexibility they have is if they can get miracle status.

It won't be useful without an opportunity to go beyond the 150 level class. None of the TK classes have even rumors of a third job though :-(

why dont they remove the limit on spell use per map then? or at least raise it so that you can save multiple maps per sun moon and star?

also, from what it sounds like, you can only log into your character every other day or something? thats pretty retarded...

and can you save all 3 on the same map? sounds like it might be useful for farming cards or something

Sadly Star gladiators (TK master) is one of the worst classes, they are at there peak on private servers were the targets are interchangable or that have a high miracle rate.
im not the authoroty on SG sadly my friend yanoss is (AKA Karate Man on av2).

He made a new one here and made it to lvl 7x SG and realised that they have been nerfed to dust, all of there skills are one use only (targets and maps) wich completely limits there power.
Not only that you can only get a 3 slotted book (unless [4] has been patched here aswel) wich is more or less youre best weapon as long as its +10 and carded for youre enemys but even still there bad qualitys outweigh the good.
Nowa days youre better off becomeing a TK Ranker, harder to obtain but youre DPS becomes god tier (better than a SG) its obtained by becomeing 1 of 10 of the current rankers viewd in /taekwon.
you gain points by killing targets from the TK skill (that ive forgotten the name of) you can change you're target by spamming the skill until its sumthing weak.

I hope this helped a little.

I didn't understand the class mechanics really well but I used to love this class when I played RO years ago but it seems that they nerfed them so bad that I barely see them around if not any at all, what's the point on having a class nerfed so bad that no one will want to play with them? :o

I'm planning on making an AGI build just for laughs or maybe a TK Kid Ranker would be a really good idea since it seems that no one plays them anymore. :P

Are TKM viable in Classic? I made a TK kid out of curiosity after deleting my novice in Loki server.

Once you "memo" a map, you can use your respective heat skill anytime you want.

For example, if you align a map as Solar (odd days, 1,3,5...) you can use your Solar Heat every day (1,2,3,4,5...). Even the damage bonus from wrath still applies. The only thing that ONLY works on Solar days is the exp bonus.
