I've ran into at least 2 MMOs adopted HackShield pro, both didn't end well and the officials admitted it.
I'm bringing this up and hope to openly talk about the possibilities.

case 1: Mabinogi

Mabinogi's engine was a very old design and it was very ping-demanding. If you have known how it was suppose to play (from G1~G11 about), lag could result you completely unable to fight without huge cost. HackShield was implemented from the beginning (think they took it out eventually), and everyone realize its one of the few major issues affecting everyone's latency, because the security system -was- failure by design according to some tech gurus. The community ended up spreading the usage of a mod that bypasses HackShield, easily and safely could it be achieved, hence, it doesn't really serve a function: any game-hacker can easily bypass and dupe gold what not, while majority innocent gamers are suffering from the unnecessary lag.

case 2: Aion Online

The official took it off (despite the contract been signed) shortly after retail launch, as they realize how disappointing the security system was written poorly, to the point that the security itself detects its own mechanics as hack attempts, so it was struggling within itself.

I cannot verify 100% the truth of what happened back then, to be fair.

Wonder if anyone here can share some info, or perhaps the CM could say a promising word about it.

I personally have never had any problems with HackShield, even when I played on kRO2 and SEARO2. However, many people did, so I do certainly see this being a problem. For some, it made the game unplayable, and the players eventually had to invent ways to help others around it.

I do hope it gets looked into, even if it doesn't affect everyone.

well the problem is: there are some bugs in the engine that allow (or atleast allowed) speed hacks which was heavily abused in colloseum. for some time a bypass was public and it was extremely abused now that they did some changes to hackshield less or no one does it. of course these game engine bugs should be fixed so that there is no need for hackshield but right now it's much safer to use it and i think only very few people have issues with hackshiel ( i never had on kRO and seaRO and i know many other didn't have either)

I've played many games that use Hackshield & have yet to experience any problems with it. This spans across 4 different PC(s) & laptops using anywhere from XP through Windows 8. This includes Logitech gaming keyboards and mouse.

I understand some people have problems with it, but I am not concerned.
