infact we can increase our dmg reduction by 50%
my sin on seaRO (having pvp weapon/gloves/helmet and the rest of the gear is bapho/arena normal) has 22% dmg reduction (including a lv 5 earthshield)
so by activating the shadow armor i raise that reduction to 73ish %, which cuts the dmg by 66% if not more
well, i just wanted to clarify that

everybody says that sins can reduce dmg by 50%... but thats wrong

The intriguing thing about this is that, 22% [Damage Reduction] on an assassin (with [Earth Shield]) is not the best it can reach. Higher ends typically scale around 23~26% [Damage Reduction]. Taking into account the "possibility" to use one those [Explorer Health Potions] (solid +15% more [Damage Reduction]), paired with [Shadow Armor] can really put up a "temporary" [God Mode] for a notable duration.

lol, just when I thought you were talking about PvE.
Assassins are better in larger scale battles like colosseum, in which I agree. One with Shadow Form can prevent being kited thanks to its immense movement speed buff, and go in for a kill.
Burst > DPS in colosseum so Assassins got the upper hand.
In the end, I agreed. Assassins may fall short in terms of damage in PvE from Rogues, but in PvP, players are not AIs. They do not stand still while being attacked. Assassin given greater mobility can chase up enemies and pack up better.. MUCH better damage output than Rogues.
Just had to point this out. When talking about burst in pvp , or even pve, there are two types. Random burst (assassin's shadow proc+ one cd skill , which is really more steady damage over longer lengths of time.
Then there is Controlled Burst, (rogue fishes for proc, smokebombs, 2x damage moonlight dance reset cds and repeat at practically any time they choose, or break it up as needed.) the rogue burst is wayyyyy more intense. While sticking on a target is good, if the heals are constant, you need controlled burst to actually take em down. Ideally you work together with someone to overcome the shortcomings.
What you call burst, isn't really burst you can count on. At the end of the day, Cooldown based damage generally trumps sustained damage in pvp.

I really love the idea of the intense movespeed Assassins can stack up since thus far moving around maps has been pretty slow.
But I also love the survivability Rogue's can get. Combined with Unstable Doping and the manipulation of combo points to get massive damage Moonlight Dances... it's so very nice sounding.
Really, there's a lot more about Rogue that I'm interested in than Assassins but movespeed is so very tempting.

Thanks to this thread, I can't decide what I want to be... I've always been DPS in any game and I've always liked the Assassin from RO1, but now that I'm reading all these things about the Rogue on RO2, I'm hesitating so much....
LOL me too :x still patching
