Here's some words (possibly many words) about what we really need done to Classic to make it what people expect when they hear "Classic" and "Pre-Renewal".

The current patch notes thread is over one hundred pages now and the last 2-3 weeks have been people asking about the same things. I'm going to divide this up into a few sections to try organize things into words that make sense.

What we (the regular posted in the patch notes thread) want changed:

13.2 spawns, or at least something close to it. Right now we lack quite a few good leveling spots and it's really hurting the game.

Biolabs area spawns, people want these pretty badly! The main Gravity complaint with these is griefing, I dont think we'll see that much griefing down there and I think instead of just making the community suffer by removing them there should just be harsher punishments for people who grief, we had a page or two of people saying this along with things such as ban every account the person has accessed for a week. By removing their ability to seige on multiple accounts (even guild accounts) people will be pretty discouraged. You've made it pretty clear that you've got no issues with banning large numbers of players for an extended period of time while you investigated their potential exploits, cant you at least extend that to the rest of the players?

Proper OCAs. The update to include all cards up to Kiel was good. But we should see at least GR card in OCAs, the 'end game' which we're (very) slowly creeping towards is designed around every group having a couple of these to make them possible without exploiting. By leaving these out we're just going to exploit things here and there and we all know how that will turn out. Maya P generally being a WoE/PvP style card does have arguments to come/go and I'm sure there's plenty of people willing to discuss that. But the big issue I feel is RMT and how strong that is right now, whenever these rare things show up on the market the very small number of players willing to RMT them are going to sweep in and take them, Xellie has plenty of stories about it to share I'm sure.

Unbox all your account bound drops. This is a terrible idea, we've said so from the start and will continue to say so, the game wasnt designed around all the good items being bound to a single character or account and is only hurting the market. Almost nobody will go ahead and card proper gear into account bound stuff because it removes any ability they have to sell the item later, this might help with "I'm quitting get rid of my stuff" syndrome, but it means people are just going to put all their MVP cards into the unbound pre-trans gear so that they can share it with friends/guildmates and then sell it if they wish.

Implement TKMs, these are not as overpowered as Heim seems to think. They make many things possible and enable party play on a few different levels. Sure with them you can achieve high amounts of EXP, but it's not just that easy. Right now TKMs would provide us alternatives to leveling in AL3 with an LK, which many people are not interested in doing. I'm sure more people could write some words about TKMs.

Speed up content implementation. Right now it seems like we're being drip fed content because they're afraid of what will happen when we run out of things. It's not going to work, we need things to speed up a little, we're eight or nine months in now and we've really not seen that much content because a large portion of time has been spent doing things that have been abandoned (Heims lucky box idea, which lasted what two months) or generally ignored (pretty much all the monster spawn changes, there's like 5 good maps on the server right now).

Here's some things I like/d:

The April Fools Day Airship quest. This was fantastic, I did this most days with a few people. It had a great reward, was fairly short and had some good dialogue. If you did similar things instead of messing up everything else I'd be pretty happy!

The Spotlights. These are great, I loved the Comodo one and the Kiel has been interesting. Encouraging people to go visit areas that you would otherwise avoid is great and gives people an alternative.

Battlegrounds. These have been going pretty smoothly, there's still a handful of people who are botting/AFKing in them, but otherwise working pretty well. I liked the idea of combining the rewards into a single badge, I like the idea of consumables being an option. There's room in the future to extend the rewards to other things that people could use instead which is great.

Man thats a lot of words for a 10 year old video game. All we want is a game we can keep playing and enjoy! Classic was supposed to be classic, right now it's not really, I dont mind this but it's about time we start to actually get some real classic content.

* Add repeatable turnins for low levels (Pecos, Gators, Goats)

These are not broken. You still need to party / level "seriously" past 86, but these actually help get you to a level where playing a character is fun. Not to mention that these are good ways for new players to find friends and guilds, make some money (Ygg Seeds, Blue Herbs) and start the game on a good note.

The spotlights are great, but it would be nice to maybe have a second one running alongside for lower levels. My main is now a 9x trans which is great and all but I have a bunch of alts I'd love to level too but there just isn't anywhere to really go. Maybe the turnins Ralis keeps mentioning would be enough, I originally quit RO long before they were added so don't know how they are. Although it'd be nice if 86+ pre-trans could have something to help people rebirth too!

Speaking of rebirth, my high priest is my first very trans character and I'm floored by how much job exp is needed to get to 70. I'd get to 99 long before I'd get anywhere near that, and from looking up newer monsters only Satan Morroccs adds seem to give decent amounts of job exp, and those are probably half a year away at least? How about something to help everyone level their job at a more reasonable rate? There's lots of monsters that give great base exp so that isn't a problem (I did Anolians to get to 99 pre-trans which give about 6k base, now I have 25k exp mob options! But nothing in-game gives any such boost for job). Maybe it just feels crazy to me since I leveled to 90 at Odins Shrine where they give 10 job exp each! Why would they even do that anyway? :p_sick:

Everything since after Einbroch has been new to me, so I've been pretty happy with the updates seeing all the new stuff, but yes some actual party maps would be very nice. Back in 2003 castle 2 in GH and Geffen 3 were fine and fun to party in but they don't cut it these days.

If they add those repeatable turn ins, I'll continue leveling my nub mage on Classic. So much nostalgia, :<

This is indeed a huge number of words, and pretty much touches on most of the things that everyone who posts here seems to agree on. Unfortunately this probably also means that they will be summarily ignored and the opposite of everything will be implemented.

Nothing we can do but keep trying though, I suppose. If anyone from the development team actually reads this, just keep in mind that we, as players, want this server to succeed more than anyone else. When we ask for things, its because we know from experience that they will help keep people active and interested in the game.

It's nice that someone likes the changes I pushed midst all the death threats I've received.
