AvalonBright: True, it hurts players if it doesn't work and I generally hate DRM on offline games much more, but since RO is online game anyhow, we still need to have internet to play it.
And if we look at the number of illegal Ragnarok Online 1 private servers and botters, I don't actually blame them at all for trying to do something to prevent illegal use.
And I -HATE- The bots that run around in RO making the game worse for everyone, so I really want them off. I have played ro1 from the start and I know how big of a problem gold sellers and bots are so I'm pretty happy if we can keep them away or even lessen them considerabely with thing like this.
The thing is, these shields rarely bring much trouble to players, but everyone just wants them away as soon as there is even a slight problem with it. That's not really a way to keep the games safe from hacks.
If you want to know an really annoying DRM, that is software for steam.
I bought ACDsee via steam, and I need to be logged on to steam if I want to use the program, even though the program itself doesn't need to be online. That I call bad..
