I'm new to the game, but I have read the other topics on the forum here. What I want is something that would focus on PvP. I made a build here, but I really don't know if I overlooked something important. I can see the importance of Wind Walk for PvP, however I just can't get the points for it. Is having 3 traps a bad idea? Also, the other builds neglected Arrow Impact. It seems like it would be extremely useful for both mobbing and PvP. Am I missing something?

When I am talking about PvP, I am interested in guild wars and organized faction based combat, not player killing. Truth be told, I havn't seen any info if the game even has that sort of thing.

Also, I liked the 40/40/8 stat build. I just want to ask, is Vit something only to be considered as an afterthought? would 30/30/28 or so be a bad idea? I am not really focusing on crit like everyone else. I guess I'm going for DOT and paralysis.

Thanks for the help.

I changed my build here. If anyone would care to comment, about it. I am not sure that Wind Walk would be a good thing to skip for a PvP build, but I really wanted poison arrow and Falcon Assault maxed, and I wonder if having 2 top tier skills might be too much going.

I'd max acrobatic because at 20s its to use against melee's charge skills which in general all have 20s cooldowns.

I agree with you there. What would you take points out of to get those 2 points? The only obvious choice would be Arrow Impact, however that would be the first skill I used after coming out of Camoflage. Is there something else you would take 2 points from?

Actually, now that I lay out my combo, 12s cooldown for Arrow Impact works out just fine, provided the snare hits. Thanks for the help.

Wind Walk is good for any aspect of Ranger play, so I would definitely get that. Kiting mobs or other players necessitates higher Move Speed and the increased Attack Speed speaks for itself.

Maxed Falcon eyes is unecessary, in my opinion. This skill is most beneficial in PvE, where you summon a second Falcon; in PvP, you'll probably only be summoning a single Falcon from your initial Camouflage.

Unforunately you'll have to juggle around some points. I reccommend looking at frostsense's guide (if you aren't yet familiar with the skills) to determine what you can nerf/buff. Even though its a PvE guide, the info is universal.

Is there a reason for a single falcon? Can you only have 1 at a time?

You can do dual falcons; nothing wrong with that.

As for the maximum True Sight (Falcon Eyes) issue: Unless you plan on doing something like colosseum, maxed out True Sight (Falcon Eyes) is not ideal because you would take down your opponent before it goes off cooldown. And even then, in colosseum, True Sight (Falcon Eyes) should be up at the beginning of the next round (fight time is 2 minutes, wait time is 1 minute for next round).

Well, no. You can have two, but in my experience it is very inefficient to do so.

While hidden, you can summon a Falcon and accumulate DPS without being unhidden. If you then use Eyes to reset, you are consequently taken out of hiding, thus removing that oh-so-sweet 2x damage from your first hit. Furthermore, taking the time to cast anything that doesn't directly hurt your oppenent is a severe waste of time, particularly against other high DPS classes where duels are over in seconds.

Is there faction war at all in the game. You guys are talking about 1 on 1 duels, which makes me wonder. I like group PvP, so I am not really into 1 on 1.

War of Emperium is upcoming. The reason why we specifically talk about 1v1 PvP now is because that's all there is to PvP at the moment (aside from massive Free for All battles which is Colosseum in a nutshell).

We don't know the specific mechanics for WoE yet, that's why were hesitant to talk about Group PvP at this point in time.

Thanks for the help. I tweaked it to be like this.
I don't understand why people would focus on Falcon Assault as their mastery skill, yet only put 1 point into it. I appreciate all your guys' help, I just don't understand that part.

I think this will be cookie cutter when it comes to group pvp.

5/5 arrow impact is REQUIRED, ranger is all about kiting. 5 sec duration 4 sec cd means your target is ALWAYS slowed.

3/3 Acrobatic, this doesn't need explaining.

3/3 Charge arrow mastery and 1/3 charge arrow. If you stand still: you'll get shredded by melees. You're not going to turret and cast charge arrows all the time, so reduce the casting time but don't care about the damage. Your damage is going to come from instant abilities

3/3 ankle snare, crucial when you're being attacked by more than 1 person. You can only arrow impact one person and this will give you breathing room if 2 people gang up on you.

5/5 double strafing, your bread and butter and instant nuke.

5/5 Main ranger, more double strafes without having to stand still and cast? Yes please.

?/5 Poison arrow, short cooldown: high damage. Can proc Main ranger. Nothing bad to say about this. The main point of this skill is to have another instant to proc Main ranger, it does do decent damage so consider maxing it; HOWEVER, things like freezing trap and camouflage (by extension improved camouflage) could take a higher priority than damage when it comes to group pvp.

5/5 Wind walk, your gtfo spell and huge damage buff spell all in one. What's going to separate the best rangers from the good is the use of this ability (and also the pay to win stat boost but that's another topic).

5/5 falcon assault. Great burst damage, instant cast.

And you have 6 points left over which you have a few options on where to dump:

1.Max out poison arrow: more damage is nice however sometimes you may need utility. 2 points left can go into freezing trap, camo, or falcon eyes depending on preference.

2. Max out freezing trap and put the 2 left over points into camo or falcon eyes (not really worth it on poison arrow). Freezing trap is going to be incredible zone control so for group objective-based pvp this will be extremely important.

3. Camo and camo mastery, turns you into a ranged assassin that can move extremely quickly while invisible. Can cause havoc if used correctly.

4. Improve conc, mainly put here for completion purposes but really the other 3 are much better options. I don't think the dodge and crit you gain will be significant enough compared to the utility of the others.

Why not arrow vulcan?

It roots you in place for 2 seconds, not pvp viable.
