This is how the chat box looks currently:


This is a photoshop mock-up of how a shadow would look behind the chat box:


You may not be able to tell from the small images, but having a drop shadow behind the chat as such makes it much easier to read text against the colorful game landscape. This shadow would always be attached to the chat frame, regardless if you were typing in it or not, and you could probably turn it on and off in the settings, if the developers implemented it.

As always, this is how the chat box looks when you hover the mouse over it:


However, your mouse ISN'T always hovered over the chat box! A drop shadow is a simple, non-intrusive way of improving readability at the convenience of the user.

I agree. When I first got into the game and started to get my settings worked out, I noticed that there wasn't an option to put a background to the chatbox and was disappointed.

This is an easy addition and needs to be added.
