So I'm leveling a Magician, and I have questions about the average DPS among the fire skills. I have Fire Bolt, FBM, and Seal of Fire maxed at this point, and I left Fire Ball at 1. I've taken to the using the following cycle in the early game: Fire Ball to start, then only Fire Bolts unless I get a FBM proc. However, I'm wondering if mixing in Fire Balls after every two Bolts, proc or not, might give more DPS by keeping the burning effect up, and if it only out-DPS's my previously mentioned cycle at levels 2 or 3. I ask this mainly because I would like to conserve as many skill points as possible for when I go Wizard, and I don't know if it would be worth it to invest in Fire Ball this early.

Calculated the average DPS with 1s cast time on Lv 5 Fire Bolt, 2s cast time on Lv 1 Fire Ball and 1s after cast delay for both.

Not a huge difference. I only use Fire Ball at the start and whenever it is instant myself. Doing it like that also makes it easier to kite (I start with Fire Ball -> Cold Bolt -> Fire Bolt spam, walking backwards during the after cast delay) since Fire Ball's cast time is so long.
