What should be the general price for potions? Or is it too soon for there to be a real market to gauge price off of?

Personally, I'd wait a couple weeks, just so there is more time for the game market to settle since it just came out.

I'm waiting for the market to settle myself. Not sure how much any of the crafted items go for. Regardless of job. Typically I just check the auction house and see how much everyone else is selling something for and then undercut it a little XD

good to -_- up the market -.-'

btw 35z 20 master red is quite good. Firmament don't be dropped on threee, and u need three for 5 potz so:

12 firmament for 1 set that is 4 yellow cry + 8 yggdrasil + 8 big bottles.

35z is quite good as price!!!!!

Been doing the same now. Since market isn't stable yet, I just spend my time farming Mats especially Firmaments(I). I also agree with 30-40z is quite good and not OP for 20pcs, of red maestro. I'm sure some items will go up, and some go down after a few more weeks. Just being patient for now.

On server Odin, Master Red Potions go for around 20-22z per stack. It's been like that for over a 1.5 weeks now.

If you raise the price of potions, from what was 19-20z before, to this 25z+ price you're suggesting, all that's going to happen is the people supplying the Firmament Essence will just raise the price per stack accordingly. You won't make any more profit than before, unless you're hunting every single last Firmament Essence yourself. The recipe for Master Red Potions has dropped to 20z and under, because there is no real profit to be had selling potions. Having a level 50 Alchemist is just there to save you money on your own potions, for your own personal use, over the long run. The only way to make any substantial zeny as an Alche, is to farm all the materials yourself, which takes alot of time. That time can be better served, hunting more valueable treasure, and you can use that money you earn from those drops, to buy potions from those Alchemists trying to nickel and dime you.

Edit: It's only a matter of time before every single player on the server has a pocket Alchemist to make their own potions. Raising potion prices just gives more incentive for these players to make their own Alchemists sooner.

Current market prices (at least since yesterday) make creating master red pots cost a total of ~18z each if you purchase each material. I sell mine for 20-21'ish zeny to make enough profit for the time, but as Bronx said, if they go up in price, firmament sellers will raise theirs as well.

-My calculations from yesterday-

Current AH Prices:
Potion Bottles = 479z each

Firm Essence: 99 for 80z = .81z each

fruit: 3fruit=1extract: 99 for 25z = .25z each, equiv to .75z per extract

Extract: 230 for 127.5 = .55z each
----
One stack of 20 =

2x4 = 8 potion bottles = 3.832z
1x4 = 4 crystals (12 essence) = 9.72z
2x4 = 8 extracts (24 fruit) = 4.4z

added up = 17.952 total to buy all materials

Glad you found it useful :) I haven't checked to see how the recent spike in AH prices has effected essences yet though, so it may be vastly different already by now ;x

Yea, it looks like they've just jumped up a bunch. A couple days ago they were pretty solid at 80'ish

You purchased bottle potions from AH? O_O

'K, I find the calculations useful too. But as an Alche too, You don't have to purchase all those items from AH. Bottles from NPC(Alche Expert), get your own herbs, and go to magic academy for the Firm box(20pcs.). You can purchase Firm from AH from time to time if its awful cheap. I scout AH for Cheap Firms.
On the note to make potion prices higher, I don't think that's a good idea. As bronx said, Firm price from AH will rise up, and that's bad not just for alchemists but for other Professions too. Selling 20pcs MaestroRedPots for 20-23z is enough profit for those who got lots of firm upon leveling up and also farming from time to time.

And a tip for future alchemists. if you get bored, feel free to make an assassin to make your farming slave for Herbs. A level 25 assassin will do, just make sure max out Hiding and those "Mobility" skills. ;)

Of course I didn't buy bottles from AH, you buy them from the Alchemist expert for 479 silver a piece. Obviously I didn't mean 479z each, sorry if that confused you.

I never said you have to buy all the items from the AH, that was the point. This way you can see how much of a profit can be made by gathering certain amounts yourself and/or purchasing parts from the auction house. The essences have jumped up a bunch in price from the day those calculations were made still though, so they are no longer accurate.
