So after sending this I said hell.. I'll do it one more time and you know what? I got the item, obviously. I gained half a level trying to do this single kill quest. Thanks a lot game.

Killed him 30 times. Couple times using the Capture Mallet for the hell of it right before killing him. Looked up online on what the deal is and I do not need to use the mallet. Killed him 10+ times after and still nothing. I've Abandoned the quest a few times but still nothing. For these Capture quests why not just have them be kill quests instead of getting a damn item from the mob if you kill it anyway? So 40+ attempts and absolutely nothing from him.
