Meditatio is a passive skill that adds additional healing when a certain healing skill crits.

Critical means twice the amount of output normally done. These healing skills affected by crit are Heal and Highness Heal. The other healing skills (Renovatio, HoT of Highness Heal, Coluceo Heal, and Sanctuary) cannot crit.

I'm gonna do a theoretical calculation regards them skills and you be the judge if it's worth getting/pumping skill points into

Formula:
Meditatio = 3+0.4L(Hit-0.95) where L is the lvl of meditatio

Assume:
Let's leave Sacrament at 0% for now.
1500 MATK
43% Heal (LVL 5)
100% Hit Rate
Heal proc a crit (200%)

Crit Heal = MATK{Heal[2+(Meditatio)]}

Calculations:

Crit Heal with no Meditatio
=1500{0.43[2]}
=1500{0.86}
=1290

Crit Heal @LVL 1 Meditato
=1500{0.43[2+(3.4(1-0.95))]}
=1500{0.43[2+(3.4(0.05))]}
=1500{0.43[2+(0.17)]}
=1500{0.43[2.17]}
=1500{0.9331}
=1399.65

Crit Heal @LVL 2 Meditato
=1500{0.43[2+(3.8(1-0.95))]}
=1500{0.43[2+(3.8.(0.05))]}
=1500{0.43[2+(0.19)]}
=1500{0.43[2.19]}
=1500{0.9417}
=1412.55

Crit Heal @LVL 3 Meditato
=1500{0.43[2+(4.2(1-0.95))]}
=1500{0.43[2+(4.2(0.05))]}
=1500{0.43[2+(0.21)]}
=1500{0.43[2.21]}
=1500{0.9503}
=1425.45

Crit Heal @LVL 4 Meditato
=1500{0.43[2+(4.6(1-0.95))]}
=1500{0.43[2+(4.6(0.05))]}
=1500{0.43[2+(0.23)]}
=1500{0.43[2.23]}
=1500{0.9589}
=1438.35

Crit Heal @LVL 5 Meditatio
=1500{0.43[2+(5(1-0.95))]}
=1500{0.43[2+(5(0.05))]}
=1500{0.43[2+(0.23)]}
=1500{0.43[2.25]}
=1500{0.9675}
=1451.25

........./ ........./ ........./

Assume:
Still leave Sacrament at 0%
64% Highness Heal (LVL 5)
Aspersio precasted (+50%)
100% Hit Rate
Highness Heal proc a crit (200%)

Crit Highness Heal = MATK{HighnessHeal*Aspersiobuff[2+(Meditatio)]}

Calculations:

Crit Highness Heal with no Meditatio
=1500{0.63*1.5*[2]}
=1500{0.945*2}
=1500{1.89}
=2835

Let HHxAspersio be 0.945

Crit Highness Heal @ LVL1 Meditato
=1500{0.945[2+(3.4(1-0.95))]}
=1500{0.945[2+(3.4(0.05))]}
=1500{0.945[2+(0.17)]}
=1500{0.945[2.17]}
=1500{2.05065}
=3075.6

Crit Highness Heal @ LVL2 Meditato
=1500{0.945[2+(3.8(1-0.95))]}
=1500{0.945[2+(3.8(0.05))]}
=1500{0.945[2+(0.19)]}
=1500{0.945[2.19]}
=1500{2.06955}
=3104.33

Crit Highness Heal @ LVL3 Meditato
=1500{0.945[2+(4.2(1-0.95))]}
=1500{0.945[2+(4.2(0.05))]}
=1500{0.945[2+(0.21)]}
=1500{0.945[2.21]}
=1500{2.08845}
=3132.68

Crit Highness Heal @ LVL4 Meditato
=1500{0.945[2+(4.6(1-0.95))]}
=1500{0.945[2+(4.6(0.05))]}
=1500{0.945[2+(0.23)]}
=1500{0.945[2.23]}
=1500{2.10735}
=3161.03

Crit Highness Heal @ LVL5 Meditato
=1500{0.945[2+(5(1-0.95))
=1500{0.945[2+(5(0.05))]}
=1500{0.945[2+(0.25)]}
=1500{0.945[2.25]}
=1500{2.12625}
=3189.38

The difference is 51 per crit heal and 114 per crit highness heal from Meditatio lvl 1 vs lvl 5.

There you go, just facts. Now, opinion time! Please make a conclusion out of it.
........./ ........./ ........./ ........./ ........./ ........./ ........./ ........./ ........./ ........./

My Priest on SEARO2 has PvE/Bapho[N] armors and Accessories with Hard Mode Dungeon weapon. Yet, the hit rate is only a little above 98%, around 1.6k MATK, and 16% critical chance. Without any buffs, foods, boosts, or pills. My crit heal using LVL 5 Meditatio is 1479 wheras at LVL 1, I crit heal for 1446.

33 critical healing points at the cost of 4 SKILL POINTS to heal tanks with 6k to 10k hp. Does this sound reasonable to you?

The only support/healing skill I consider to be -less- useful than Meditatio to level past 1 is Increase Agi. It's not a bad skill.. It's just that there's so much more utility to be found almost anywhere else.

Renovatio, Highness Heal, Heal, Aqua Benedicta, Aspersio -- always a high priority to level these
Blessing, Assumptio, Coluceo, Sanctuary, Sacrament, Archangel, Resurrection -- very high appeal to leveling any of these
Gloria, Suffragium, Angelus -- still high appeal depending on playstyle
Recovery, Meditatio -- Lv.1 is enough
Increase Agi -- don't bother

Hey, I'm running a Lv 3 recovery just to have fun with the skill in RHMs. Although it only saves 1 or 2 seconds, most of the time those 1 or 2 seconds don't really matter.

Yeah, but people still get by fine with just Lv.1 Recovery. It can save lives in raids still.
I don't see a problem with leveling it. But I feel it's like Meditatio: Lv.1 is enough.

I save a couple of skill points just in case because of Recovery. Maybe Recovery will become a lot more important after the harder raids are retuned to not be pay-to-win.

Maxing Meditatio isn't useless. But just getting Lv.1 Meditatio is a bigger boost then spending the additional 4 points to max it. Spending those 4 points on any other emergency skill would keep your party safer.

What is there to test? It works as he described.

Sanctuary is not working as described so better to check it out, plus its always fun to try things on your own :P

Anyways, the results:

Level 5 Meditatio highest Crit (Hell, even with Sufragium on) :

Level 1 Meditation highest Crit (Without Sufragium):

So yeah. Completely useless.

I have seen priests do 50 agi/26 int with a level 5 meditatio and did fine. Pays off well if you can crit frequently but this also depends on how much of a heal bomber you are.

Even if there isn't, doesn't mean you should abandon it. They can work, but this is always the game with criticals vs raw power. It is up to you on what you wish to choose, one isn't necessarily better than the other.

If there's any way I could get at least 115% Hit Rate then I might reconsider pumping-up this skill again.

I recall the bonus being capped at 100% Hit, so even if you had 200% it wouldn't go any further.

There is no cap until it push against the calculation of a hit/miss. You can have 110%, but it might only be 98% after an enemy's stats are factored into it.

I'm talking about the bonus critical heal from Meditatio calculated by Hit Rate, not the Hit Rate itself. The old Roguard descriptions we had in kRO2 specify a 100% cap of the 95% surplus accuracy, making it 25% more critical heal maximum regardless of how much over 100% Hit Rate you have.

Of course, it could be different in this server. Here's the old descriptions (pre-seaRO) anyhow: http://www.ro2skills.../class/pri.html

It wouldn't because meditatio only affects heal crits. Reno can't crit.
