Haste reduces attack speed I think?

Attack speed is useless. You'll be spamming your bash/double attack button the whole game so might as well get used to it.

Attack Speed in RO2 is the time between your normal attacks. So in that sense, yes, Attack Speed is relatively useless. What you may want to do is increase your Haste Rate, which reduces the casting time of your skills. For example, when Rangers use Wind Walk + a level 3 Guardian (and any other Haste augments), resulting in near-instant Charge Arrows.

Synesthetic has an awesome info-thread ("Stats guide/FAQ") in the general RO2 Guidebook section, you may want to take a look.

Varunax, this is the archer forum, you are probably posting this by mistake.

@I made it Off Topic

are you sure it doesn't increase your attack speed? Most of the tooltips in this game are not updated to reflect your stats.

I assume you meant to @tag me. :D

Yes, Haste reduces Cast Time of skills. Attack Speed reduces intervals between auto-attacks. Focus on Haste and Vigor (Haste > Vigor for Rangers imo) if you want attack faster.

ahaha, yeah I did. I didn't scroll up enough it seems.

But as far as I've seen there's no attack speed stat in this game, only the thing that tells you the base attack speed of the weapon (for bows its 2.4)

I know haste definitely reduces cast time but im pretty sure it increases attack speed as well since I notice more shots go off when i use my guardian.

I'm still pretty sure that Haste does not affect attack speed, even though the tooltip when you mouseover it says it does. A while back, there was talk about it in the Thief forum, and this was my conclusion:

Now that seaRO2 is finally back up, I can finally test it to confirm. There was the possibility that maybe the stat window just isn't showing the increase in attack speed.

I got on my sorc. Unequipped everything that I had room to unequip. 2.42% Haste.
~4 seconds between attacks.
Re-equipped everything and turned on Wind Seal. 30.32% Haste. With that much Haste, I should be seeing a clear 3 sec delay between attacks. I tested and...
~4 seconds between attacks. No change.

So either the stat is bugged, or the text is incorrect.

If Haste -does- affect attack speed now, then it was a fix snuck in silently here over the past few weeks.

could just be a latency thing then. Is there a way to get your ping up ingame?

Maybe it doesn't reflect in the character window? =/

IDK, but if haste only effects cast time abilities then I REALLY hope Beastmaster raid gear has 0 haste on it ;_;

Based on other timings I've done, my latency to their servers is probably around 0.5 seconds when trying to spam skills. But autoattacks work independently of skills, so I don't know if it's even relevant. Either way, I should've noticed a significant difference from 28% Haste Rate for an aspd as slow as that.

After boosting Haste, there's no difference in the character window, and that was why I tried timing it to make sure.
My only disclaimer is that I did that test on seaRO2 while waiting for iRO2's beta to open. So for all I know, maybe there was a silent change made with iRO2's launch. I don't have a sorc here yet to easily test that on my own. If someone else wants to test it, I hope they use a stopwatch.

As for armor, being a tank, you can choose between equipment that gives you Hit/Haste/Vigor, or Parry/Dodge. If neither of those are appealing to you, then you could try putting together a crafted set which, for you, would give you Hit/Vigor--more Vigor than the Hit/Haste/Vigor stuff.
