I know there are alot off Nay say about a full on DPS warrior.

What i want to do is Damage. Off tank sure but nott full time. ill do it in a dungeon or a raid if need be but i really want to just be there attacking a boss and worrying about putting the most damage i can do with my class.

So what i want to know is this. Is a DPS warrior really shunned upon in this community? I honestly hated RO2Sea community when it came to this question but now finding that warp portal brought it to the states im happy i can do what i want here.

Im not asking for builds, or negative feed back, or anything that would accrue towards a bad attitude towards something folks really want to do here.

I believe Warriors are capable of more then just off tanking. And im going to prove that to the best off my abilities. Ill continue with this post more and more as i level with our standard cookie cuter str/agi build until i reach 50 when i move into my own stat build and skill build. Im hoping to see other DPS warrior enthusiasts doing the same. Dont let the forums get you down.

TLDR: warrior rock >.>

You do less damage than Rogues, Sorcerers, Rangers, and Assassins at minimum.

You do provide better AoE Damage than Rogues and Assassins, perhaps Sorcerers. Not Rangers.

You are inherently more survivable than Assassins and Rangers. Rogues are potion spammers and have an amazing self-heal, and Sorcerers are Hybrids.

You provide a great Team Buff, but most teams will have a Knight who provides it already unfortunately. But, at least you have a Team Buff.

The 'problem' is, Warriors excel at one thing: Off-Tanking (And Main Tanking but less relevant for this discussion). Forgoing this major strength is troublesome, as you do not provide the DPS of a Ranger or Sorcerer, but are also in melee-range. You do not out-damage a Rogue or Assassin either.

Flat-out? You do not need to build Main Tank, but I would at least build Off Tank so you have the option to do so while still being capable of DPS. The DPS and Off-Tank Builds are very similar, ultimately. If you insist on ONLY being DPS, just keep in mind that due to being a Hybrid, you are out-paced by the Pure DPSers, and Sorcerers. Sorcerers, while a Hybrid, are not a True Hybrid. They're more Utility Hybrid.

I run a critical tank build (Battle Tactics), I find that most of our DPS has to come from burst due to the somewhat lacking nature of our rotations. I can crit upwards to 5.2k, but I am sure once I get my epic weapon it will go even higher. The utility is there for this build to Off-tank in an emergency as well.

In my opinion, warriors can do well, but will need some crazy hand-holding to get there as they are a class choke full of percentages.

I have a gut feeling warriors will get a good amount of high DPS skills 3rd job, so it may be viable, but who knows?

I say if you want to play a dps warrior just do it. I am and im having a great time. TBH Yeah the ranger in your raid might have "higher dps" but does he play it right, whats is ping? what about his fps?.. So yeah Warriors are viable. And they can do a good ammount of damage while being to offtank and sorta main tank just about anything.

Enjoy

For RHD at least, as a priest, I make groups and I take warriors if they whisper me first even over a ranged DPS, because I can heal 4 melee (Knight, War, Rog, Sin) in any RHD and we can beat the content.

I hope there are others like me who don't discriminate so much, of course for Raids with enrage timers - there's a limit x:

You have to take into consideration that asking a question like "Are warriors a viable DPS?" is going to get answers within the perspective of stat maximizing and role optimization.

Warriors have DPS skills. That innately makes them a viable DPS.
For people that require the best damage output - no, you don't fit the bill. When pugging or running with a new guild that doesn't know you are a DPS warrior, you'll be expected to tank or off-tank.

But that doesn't mean you are "Bad" or "not good enough" as a DPS. It just means that other classes were built to dish out more than you and you haven't established within your community the role you would like to take.

If you've got friends to play with or you know that you'll find friends to play with, make a DPS warrior and go to town with it! Who cares what other people think or require for their raids?

Werk it, gurrrrrrrl!
